Review of Soap & Glory Thick & Fast Mascara.. ♥

So last Wednesday I picked up the latest copy of Elle magazine, the only real reason being to get the freebie! The free gift was a full sized black Soap and Glory Thick and Fast Mascara! I am a huuuuge S&G fan, and I haven't yet had the chance to try out any of their new cosmetics range, so I was thrilled that I was able to get my hands on this for only £3.80 rather than the RRP of £10!

I normally adore the packaging of S&G products but this was a bit bland and boring. But I guess you can't expect too much design to go into such a small item. Also it comes with a very big brush which I think may be a little too large, as it made it difficult to use on the corners of your lashes. I hope when they redesign their range they put more girlyness and 50's styling into it.

First of all, I have to say that the magazine was pretty shocking. It was hundreds of pages long and I didn't bother to read a single one of them. Maybe that's just me being so 'unfashionable' but it just seemed almighty dull. Although I did adore the first advertisement spread in the front of the magazine which was for Louis Vuitton fashionhouse and featured pretty pastel coloured girls and ice creams :) But apart from that.. what a waste of paper.

Still.. not a waste of money as I got to try out the fab S&G mascara!

Soap and Glory claim:
This false lash effect mascara creates amazingly, longer, fuller, fabulous lashes. Featuring SUPERFILL™ False Lash Fillers, SHINE AMPLIFIERS, NOFLAKE24 technology and super-fine no-clumps natural wax film formers. *While we don’t feel it’s ladylike to brag, we’re feeling particularly bullish about our mascara. (And hope after trying it you’ll agree that it’s absolutely marvelous.)

Here are my review photoshots.

As previously stated many times.. my eyelashes are crap! They are fair and fine and sparse :( Unlucky for me. Same goes for my ridiculous eyebrows. So this is a photo of my bare eyelashes ready to be transformed to thick glossy lashes!

Anyway moving on.. here are my eyelashes after being curled and then one coat of S&G mascara. Now you can actually see my lashes and they look nice and dark and lengthened.

This is them after a second coat. Not a huge difference to the first coat, but I was pleased that they didn't go all clumpy or too thick.

As you can see from this photo, after I added some eyeliner and eyeshadow, they are much longer, but still a little fine. I think this is a good mascara for everyday use when you don't want your eyelashes to appear too 'glam' and over done.

Here's a photo of the overall effect along with the rest of my make up.

The magazine also came with a £2 off voucher when you spend £10+ on S&G cosmetics in Boots!

Overall I like this mascara because it gives longer, darker lashes. It doesn't do much for volume, but that's fine for an everyday look. I wouldn't say that this is the best mascara I've ever used, but it does a good job and I love the way it doesn't clump or flake at all, and it lasts all day. I would recommend it to my friends and probably will repurchase :) 8/10.

You can buy Soap & Glory from their website or from Boots.

  1. I bought Elle magazine for the free mascara too - I couldn't believe the number of adverts in it. There was about 20 of them before you hit the contents page. I think I'll stick to Cosmo.

  8. Oh my god I bow down to this post! I was so angry with this magazine, 30 pages of adverts before it even got to the contents page - There were about 3 articles in it tops. Such a sad waste of paper, I agree a millino times over. And yeah, the mascara brush is massive! I like how its curved though x
