As I previously mentioned, it was my nieces 8th birthday at the weekend. So a few weeks ago I started making this for her as a little additional gift. She has started wanting her bedroom decorated in a similar style to my own, with pastel colours and floral decorations. So I thought that I would make her a DIY gift that I put thought into and that will also match her bedroom.
So it started off as an old wooden picture frame which I gave a lick of emulsion paint to make it white. I picked it up from a car boot sale for £1 a little while ago.
I then printed out her name on paper, using letters in a bold font and large size so that they would fill the length of the frame.
I carefully cut them out, and then chose some patterned wallpaper and used the letters as templates to cut around the wallpaper.
I used different patterned paper for each letter to give a more vintage mis-matched look. I also cut out a longer length of contrasting wallpaper to use as the background.
I then just stuck the letters to the background, and put the whole thing into the frame! I love the way it ended up, I wouldn't mind making one for myself! I hope she likes it :)
