Baking Books: Fiona Cairns Birthday Cakes, Primrose Bakery, Biscuiteers Iced Biscuits.. ♥

Now, I am not known for my love of reading, but I probably am known for my Twitter rants about how much I hate my Kindle. But I do love to buy new baking recipe books! And these are all ones I have really wanted for a while but I thought I don't really 'need' them, and with RRP's of about £15 each, they're pretty pricey...

Or so I thought. But I managed to get all 3 of them for £16 including delivery from The Book People. Firstly, the Fiona Cairns Birthday Cake Book has an RRP of £18.99, but The Book People sell it for only £4.99! The Primrose Bakery book has an RRP of £17.99, but they sell it for £6.99, and the Biscuiteers book RRP is £14.99, and which is sold for only £3.99. So thats a massive saving on each book! And there's honestly no catch either, The Book People are a 100% trustworthing bookstore, similar to Amazon. And this isn't a sponsored post, I paid for these books myself :)

I chose to buy the Biscuiteers book after reviewing one of their hand iced biscuits and wanting to give it a go myself. I wanted the Primrose Bakery book as they are my ultimate favourite cupcake bakery in London, and I picked Fiona Cairns as I love the feminine vintage charm of her cakes, and she was the Royal Wedding cake maker. The Book People sell many other books too, from all genres, and also other baking books such as Hummingbird Bakery, Marian Keyes, and Peggy Porschen, all with great savings.

Fiona Cairns Birthday Cake Book
This is probably my favourite book out of the three, as it has some really original and fascinating ideas. Also the instructions seem quite simple, despite the very detailed cakes. The cake I cannot wait to try and make is the Alice in Wonderland teapot cake! It looks so adorable, and can be decorated as you wish. Check out some of these gorgeous designs from the book.

The Primrose Bakery Book
The Primrose Bakery book is a bumper pack of cake recipes, including cupcakes. Some of my favourites to try are the caramel cake, cookies and cream cupcakes, and the Mars bar cake. It isn't just cakes though, it also has lots of different icing and buttercream recipies, including marshmallow! Yummy! And theres also recipies for brownies, biscuits, caramel slice, and tarts. There's also a great range of information on cake decorating techniques, including a step by step guide to icing and layering cakes, and using sugarpaste.
Biscuiteers Book of Iced Biscuits
This book is a great beginners guide to making biscuits. Personally, I have only ever made gingerbread, and I wanted to look more into making other biscuits, simple things like butter shortbread. I was a little disappointed with this book as it only comes with 10 very basic biscuit recipies, and the rest of the book very simply describes how to decorate every biscuit design. Most of which, you need a special shaped cutter for unless you are very good at shaping biscuits by hand, which they do have paper templates for at the back. But the beginning of the book is very helpful, with lots of top tips on dough making, and icing techniques. I would recommend this book if you were looking for biscuit design ideas, but not as a recipe book.

Overall, all three books were definately worth the money that I paid for them. They all have hundreds of gorgeous photographs in which I could gaze at for hours! And the recipies are very unique and I just wish I had enough time to bake a different one every week! I really look forward to trying out many of the recipies, especially the teapot cake, and making some iced biscuits!

Have you read any of these books? Are you interested in buying recipe books?
