Last month I posted about how I was going to trial the Jenny Craig diet food. I was sent a 2 week supply of meals, all very neatly packaged. The foods included breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks. Although I only managed to do the diet consecutively for 1 week, I can honestly say that I am very happy with the food that was provided, and I felt healthier having these meals compared to my normal food.
Some people were a bit concerned that the food from Jenny Craig wouldn't be tasty because it's low in salts, sugars, and fat. So I thought I would show you photo's of the meals that I received after I'd prepared them ready to eat, so you can see what they're really like!

Beef casserole with chunky potatoes - as you can see there's plenty of meat, potato, and gravy in here! It's quite a large portion, it tasted delicious, and the potato really filled me up.
This is one of the lunches, a winter vegetable soup. This was full of flavour and it was very thick and tasty.
I'm not a fish lover so I let my Mum try this. It's a prawn korma, which also came with rice. She said that the prawns were very delicious, although there wasn't much rice.
Thai chicken curry - I let my Dad try this one out, again it didn't come with much rice, but plenty of meat and sauce, and it was full of flavour.
Lasagna is one of my favourite meals, and this was definitely not the worst one I've tried! The tomato sauce was delicious, and there was plenty of pasta and meat to fill me up, but it was obviously lacking in cheese to keep it low in fat. Considering it didn't have much cheese, it was still really tasty, and I enjoyed it fully.
Overall, the quality of the meals is very high. My parents both said that their meals were of restaurant standard! And I enjoyed all of my meals, and I am known to be a very picky eater. The variety of meals is also good, as there is different meat, and alternations between potato, rice, and pasta. I think that the high price is reflected in the quality of the food, this is not cheap ready-meals full of saturated fats. These are genuinely tasty meals, and after eating them I feel full and healthier, as the portion sizes are smaller than I would usually eat.
This is just a small selection of the meals I got from Jenny Craig, and I will review the others soon!

Eww they all look like brown slop! Where are the fresh seasonal veggies...you did well to last a week :D
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised by how much food you get with these. You can't beat nice looking home cooked meals though! XxxX http://thesecondhandrose.blogspot.co.uk
ReplyDeleteOooo these all look really tasty! I love to cook but during the week, because I work, I get so lazy and usually resort to something quick (and non healthy may I add!). One of these diet "meals-on-wheels" packages should help keep me on form! May have to give one of these sorts of companies a try! x x
ReplyDeleteI'm really shocked at how much food that is in each portion and you did well a week is still more than most people manage on eating programmes :) x
