I have always chewed my nails and the skin around them, which has left me with pretty minging fingers! It's my worst habit and one I find really hard to kick. One of the ways I find that helps me to prevent nail chewing is by wearing a couple of layers of nail polish. Not because I don't want to chip it, but because the feeling of bits of nail polish in my mouth is yuk! So lately I have been wearing nail polish and they seem to be growing, slowly.
To try and encourage me to stop my bad habit even more, I bought myself plently of nail treats when I was on holiday! In Spain they have lots of these Spanish Bazaar's there, with all the cheap stuff you get on eBay from Hong Kong! This one shop was HUGE and FULL of cheap Hong Kong goodies, it was the size of a department store! I only had 30mins browsing time before it closed, but here's what I grabbed (prices are approximate).
I'm sure most of you have seen or heard of the Ciate Caviar Manicure, where tiny little beads are stuck onto your nails to give a 3D look. These sets are pretty pricey at £18, so when I saw this little packet of nail art beads to give the same look, I bought them so I can give them a try! They had black or this lilac colour, and they were only about 80p.

Eyelash comb: 70p, Nail glue: 80p, 3D nail art pieces: £1, Nail art caviar: 80p, False nails: £1.50, 3 sheets of nail stickers: 80p each, Nail art varnish pen: 90p.

I also thought that these nail art stickers would be good for preventing me from chewing my nails. I got a packet of florals, bows and hearts, and a white lacey pattern.
I am sooo overly excited about these! I don't know what you would call them, they're little 3D shapes to glue onto your nails. This set has a range of summery and a couple of Christmas pieces. It even has a few cake and ice creams! So cute! Very Katy Perry.
I also bought this set of false nails for only £3 from Tesco, because the ones I bought from the Chinese shop are ALL different sizes! Haha so my two hands wouldn't match.
So I hope to soon be able to show you my lovely long new nails of my own, but if it fails, then I have falsies to save the day!

Ooo those 3d nail stickers are so cute x
ReplyDeleteI'm going to Spain at the end of August. Thanks for the heads up =)
ReplyDeleteI love the nail stickers that you purchased! Great haul. :)
ReplyDeleteI got rid of my habit of biting my nails by playing around with nail polish. I'd always eventually take the polish off with nail polish remover, leaving a really nasty taste on my nails left. I heard people did that with ginger too. :)
Also, the 3D items you have look like they're made from fimo. Many are made from canes that can be cut up and used on nails.
:)
You got some lovely items, I love the lilac beads, they'll look so pretty
