Over the last 4 weeks I have stopped my terrible habit of chewing my nails and skin around them, which has left me with long nails which I've only ever had twice before! Every summer I try to stop chewing my nails, and the last 2 summers I did quite well but they still kept breaking or I would bite a few. But this year things are going really well!
So to celebrate, I thought I would treat myself to some new nail polishes so I can give myself a DIY French manicure. In future I will be more daring, but as a total nail novice I wanted to keep it simples! So, I bought these three NYC nail polishes from Superdrug. They are £2.49 each or 2 for £3!
I couldn't find a French manicure 'set' with the 3 polishes in together from any brand, so I had to buy them seperately. I thought that these 2 colours were perfect. Classy Glassy clear nail polish to go on top, Oh Soho Sweet to go on as the nudey pink base, and Pinstripe White to do the French tips.
These are my nails 'au natural' after I filed them into a square shape
After a coat of Oh Soho Sweet
I did the white tips by hand, which was kind of tricky as I'm not very steady handed! Does anyone know of an easier way to paint on tips? I have some nail guide stickers but they're not very good!
The finished look :)
What do you think of my DIY £6 French Manicure?

French tips look lovely but I'm rubbish at doing them - ends up way too messy xx
ReplyDeleteThey look good. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a few tips for you... Use the pinkie finger on the hand you painting with, as an anchor. If you are painting you thumb, make sure the pinkie finger is touching your thumb, and you are controlling the brush with your forefinger and thumb.
Also if you roll the finger you are painting rather then move the brush, that helps get a straight line, and do it quick, the slower you do it the more chance of a wobble. Hope some of the tips help!

Wow your nails look amazing! And you did a really good job of free hand, wish my hands were that steady.
ReplyDeleteYou could try using sellotape, that usually works well to make clear lines - just as long as the pink is dried first. I really love how a simple french mani looks xxx
