This month, Hair Trade gave me the chance to review the New CID i-flick double ended eyeliner pen. I use liquid eyeliner every single day and I feel lost without it. I don't tend to stick to one brand of eyeliner, as I haven't yet found my perfect product. Although when it comes to liquid eyeliner, I do prefer to use the felt tip pen types, rather than the dip-pot ones, as I find them finer and easier to use. I've tried out loads of brands of eyeliner, so far my favourite is the Soap and Glory liquid eyeliner pen, but this one from New CID is also very, very good.

The i-flick is a black liquid eyeliner that has a capillary system brush which allows exactly the right amount of eyeliner to flow through the brush. It also has a built-in, retractable kohl pencil at the other end.

The tip of the pen is very fine, and there are lots of bristles which bend as you apply the eyeliner, rather than a stiff felt tip. This makes it very easy to use, and very easy to adjust the thickness of the eyeliner. I started off very fine, and then gradually layered it on thicker towards the edges. The ink of the eyeliner is fairly dark, but it's not the darkest deep black like a khol eyeliner. I prefer it this way, for a less intense everyday look. Overall, I found this eyeliner tip very easy to use and apply to my upper eyelid.
To create the perfect eye line, CID reccommend:
"Start by steadying your elbow on a table top with the i – flick in your hand. With the other hand, lift the eyelid from under the arch of the brow. Using the flat edge of the brush, draw from the inside corner of the upper lash line to the outside corner, lifting slightly at the end to create a flick."
I don't often use a khol eyeliner pencil, but I have tried this one out on the i-flick. It is a very dark eyeliner, perfect for creating a smokey eye look for a dramatic effect. Also, it is extrememly long lasting and I was very impressed with the staying power of it. I remember as a teen, whenever I wore eyeliner it would smudge and go all gloopy (yuk!) but this lasts all day! I tried it out by applying it on top of my liquid eyeliner, which gave a much deeper tone.
As you can see from the swatches in the above photo, the khol pencil (left) is thicker than the pen (right).
The New CID i-flick eyeliner pen is available for £18.50 from Hair Trade.
