Merlin at Whiskas Kitten Kollege Career Day*

Whiskas have produced a range of adorable Kitten Kollege videos on their YouTube channel, which each show how to care for your cat to ensure they lead a healthy and happy life. For those of you that might not know, my little fluff ball is called Merlin. He has been invited to take part in the Whiskas 'Kitten Kollege Career Day', where we look into which career would ideally suit his personality!

Merlin's Kitten Kollege Career Day

I love how all cats have a different personality and every pet is unique. Merlin is a Ragdoll breed of cat, which means he has a very docile, calm and floppy nature. He is a very affectionate cat, and although he is perhaps not the brightest, he does like to explore!

My Baby Merl just turned 5 years old, so it is not such a kitten any more and in fact has a very large build (excellent for snuggling!). When he was younger, it was always very important to me to make sure he had the best kitten food for him to ensure he grows up big and healthy, so here he is now!

What do you think his chosen career should be?

Rock Climber

Ragdoll cats are generally kept as indoor cats as they're not very street savvy and could easily get taken, run over or attacked due to their easy-going temperament. Merlin absolutely loves the outdoors so is allowed out in the enclosed back garden under strict supervision (he has been known to jump the fence!) and he certainly enjoys a bit of sunshine.

Because of his gentle and laid back personality, he's not scared of anything. He loves hopping over everything and jumping around, and one of his favourite hobbies is climbing over the rockery in the back garden. Could rock climbing be his new career?

Motorbike Rider

Merlin just loves investigating my Dads garage which is full of mechanical 'stuff' as well as a motorbike, which Merl just loves to climb all over! I feel like a motorbike racer could be a great career for him. He certainly looks comfortable up on the seat! Although actually.. he's not the most well balanced cat, perhaps something with four wheels would be more appropriate for him?

Shepherd

Merlin is a little bit of a loner. In fact, he has never even met another cat before since leaving his breeder and his siblings as a kitten! I'm not really sure how he would react if he met another cat.. he might get all excited and want to be their friend, or he might get frightened and run off!

Merlin has made a couple of friends though, in the shape of our two garden sheep. They keep him company whilst he is out playing in the garden, and we often find him sitting in between them. Perhaps a job as a herdsman is the right choice for him?

I couldn't decide on just one option, so I thought I'd share all three with you! To be honest... I think he's probably happy staying as a well kept kitty who spends all day sleeping, eating, or being groomed!

What career would your cat choose?

  1. Pretty kitty. My Maine Coon (a classic brown tabby colouring with a white belly and 'beard') is named Merlin too :)
