For those of you that didn’t know Benefit did skincare, or wanted to try it but were put off by the price, then this blog Benefit skincare review post is for you! Personally, I have tried a few Benefit cosmetic products but I wasn’t blown away by the results. They seem a fairly average company to me, just with a good brand, packaging and marketing skills.
However I was always attracted to their skincare range, mainly because of their adorable apothecary style glass jars and bottles. I can’t resist anything cute and original, so I wanted to try a Benefit skincare product. However, I was very put off by their silly prices, very overpriced and overrated I think. As gorgeous as the bottles and packaging is, I couldn’t justify spending £17 on a make up remover.
Benefit Skincare Review
However, I did come across this set, the Benefit b.right Radiant Skincare 6 Piece Intro Kit from John Lewis. It was only a purse tempting £20 for the whole set, so I happily added the set to my basket, virtually handed over my cash, and waited for my set to arrive.
The set contains 6 deluxe minis from the collection of b.right Radiant Skincare, for bright, radiant, hydrated and youthful-looking skin. I was very impressed once again with their packaging, the products came in a clear plastic zip-lock make up bag, and then in a cardboard branded packet. I was also very pleased that the mini bottles and jars were made from glass, and hadn’t been substituted for plastic. Overall I was very impressed with them, and couldn’t wait to try each one!
I wasn’t sure which order to use them in, as there seems to be a lot of moisturising options. However, the set does come with an instruction leaflet for skincare beginners such as myself. It didn’t list what to use step-by-step, which I think would have been very useful, but it did describe what each one did and how to use it. So I started off using the Foamingly Clean Facial Wash to cleanse my face. This was an enjoyable product to use, and it foamed up real good, creating a rich lather!
After I scrubbed using the Refined Finish Facial Polish, I used the Moisturize Moisture Prep Toning Lotion. This supposedly smoothes & revitalises allowing skin to fully optimise benefits of your moisturiser. I found this a bit runny and watery to use, but I think it did make my skin a little smoother.
The Refined Finish Facial Polish is a gentle facial scrub, that brightens the complexion, gently exfoliating to purify the skin and help minimise the appearance of pores to reveal skin’s natural radiance. I didn’t like this product much at all, even though I avoided getting the product in my eyes, I still somehow managed to, and it hurt! Those little exfoliating grains stung my little eyeballs. And I didn’t find it made much difference to my skin.
After using the Prep Toning Lotion, I then used the Triple Performing Moisturising Facial Emulsion. I’m not entirely sure what the use of this is. It seems like a light moisturiser to me, so I’m not sure that you would need this, and the Total Moisture Facial Cream. But it is a nice product to use, although it’s a little tough getting it out of that tiny glass bottle! It hydrates, protects and comforts the skin with an oil-free, lightweight formula.
And then finally, the two little cute jars. The Total Moisture Facial Cream provides concentrated immediate and long-term hydration for an ultra radiant complexion. I found that it was nice and thick, but not too much so. It made my skin feel very hydrated, and also very fresh, especially after using all the other products.
As the finishing line for the b.right skincare routine, I applied the It’s Potent! Eye Cream. It fades dark circles and helps smooth fine lines for brighter, younger-looking eyes. This jar is really tiny, but I like the product.
Overall, I’m not sure of the skincare effects on my face, but I haven’t had any break outs, and my skin is looking and feeling healthier and fresher. I haven’t found them to be miracle products, but I am pleased that I purchased this set so that I could try them all out instead of buying full sized ones for over £125 in total. I think it’s a really neat little set, the packaging is gorgeous, and I think it would make a perfect gift! I think that it looks much more expensive than a tenner, especially for a well known luxury brand.
I think it’s a great little set, and I would recommend it to those wanting to try out some Benefit skincare products, for travelling, and also as a perfect gift. I’m going to keep the empty bottles and refill them to take travelling!
