Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Apocaliptic & Big Bang ♥

Hey girls! I haven’t done a beauty review in absolutely ages! But I have a few coming up soon and I wanted to start off with the brand new blogger famous Apocalips lip glosses from Rimmel London. Rimmel is one of my favourite low priced beauty brands as I find their products to be great value and quality. I’m sure you’ve all seen 101 reviews of these by now, but I also had to go and pick up a couple from Boots after hearing so much about them!

Now first of all, I hate lipglosses! I much prefer the matte look of a lipstick and always think of lip glosses as being sticky, gooey and tacky looking. But after reading about how coloured these are I decided to try out two shades: Apocaliptic and Big Bang. I always prefect brighter shades such as these rather than nudes and pale pinks. Apocaliptic is a really deep hot pink shade, and Big Bang is a very bright red.

The above photos show the colour of the lip lacquer in the tube, on my lips, and then along with my full face of make up. I think this is my favourite shade out of the two just because the colour really ‘pops’! It’s a girly colour but also so feisty.
The Big Bang shade perhaps doesn’t show up as bright on my lips as Apocaliptic does. But it’s still a bright firey colour and is definately eye catching.

The above swatch photo shows the colours a little bit better, and makes Big Bang appear more red than pink, as it does on my lips. As you can see the colours are really bold and fully pigmented. These are probably just as pigmented most lipsticks, except more glossy. However, the shine doesn’t last too long, but afterwards you’re left with a gorgeous matte colour.
Personally I prefer the matte look so I make sure to blot the gloss with tissue paper to give an instant matte appearance. The colour stains the lips and lasts for a good few hours before it’s gone. The colours are so rich and intense that it makes them perfect for evening wear or to make a statement. I also found them to be quite creamy, although not necessarily moisturising. I really like to brush used to apply the lacquer as it makes it very easy to put on evenly and smoothly.
The Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer comes in 8 different shades, and they are only £5.99! Even better, they’re currently on 3 for 2 at Boots, so grab them quick!
Have you tried these? What’s your favourite shade?

    I hate lipgloss too.

I've got these in nova and celestial – they are the more neutral colours in the collection.
