So I went to get my eyes tested last weekend (in true thrifty style I went to Tesco as they do free eye tests!) as I’d noticed that my glasses weren’t quite good enough anymore. The thing is, I only got my glasses in February, and already, within months, my prescription has changed. It’s really annoying because I bought my glasses for £90 and that’s a lot of money to spend on something that’s now not usable and didn’t last me long. And I asked about getting them reglazed and just new prescription lenses and that costs as much as a new pair of glasses! The optician also informed me I have a deep scar on the centre of my eyeball caused by some kind of high speed impact and there’s still a piece of debris in my eyeball.. nice!
I used to only wear my glasses for driving but lately I’ve found myself having to wear them all the time 🙁 They make me feel like a bit of a nerd, but I guess I need to wear them seeing as I’m too much of a baby for contact lenses! So seeing as I needed new glasses, I set about hunting for some that don’t cost the world! SpecsPost offered to send me three pairs of frames to try out to see which ones suit me best. I can then select my preferred style and they put prescription lenses in them for me!
I decided I wanted to try out some thicker framed glasses, I might as well embrace the geek chic. I picked three pairs:
- Alfie – This pair is similar to my RayBan sunglasses which I love, but I think this style is just too big for my face! I’m not sure I’m trendy or hipster enough to pull these ones off!
- Wayfarer – I love these ones! These are the one’s I’ve chosen to get. They’re similar to the Alfie pair but are smaller sized, which makes them suit me a little bit better, without taking over my whole face.
- Kane – These glasses are also petite sized, but because of my round face, these circular frames just do not suit me. Despite my Mum telling me I look cute!
I love the fact that you can try out frames before you buy online. You just need to pay a small deposit, and then they can send you up to 3 pairs of frames to try on, and the deposit is then returned to you once you post the frames back. I cannot wait to receive my prescription wayfarer glasses!
While I’m at it, here’s a little outfit of the day. I’ve been wanting to experiment with a leather skirt for a while, and I found this one at Tesco for only £14 (and I had a 20% off voucher). I wore the leather look skater skirt with my burgundy heart print blouse, berry coloured lipstick, and Chelsea boots. They’re not the most flattering photos admittedly, but I think I like the skirt.. I’m a little unsure!
