NYC Rock Muse Smoky Top Coat ♥

Another bargain beauty post including NYC! I usually tend to stick to bright or pastel colours for my nails, but now that summers over I’ve started experimenting with darker colours for Autumn. I’ve never tried black nails before, as I always thought they’d be a bit too gothic for me. But I saw this black glittery top coat in Superdrug and decided I’d give it a try!
As a base coat I used Miss Sporty Lasting Colour Nail Fatal Black, which is only £1.99! I didn’t have high hopes for this, as I’d picked the cheapest black I could find as my first ‘experiment’. But their Lasting Colour nail range have really nice maxi brushes and a new gel formula, which leaves my nails amazingly glossy! I might have to pick up a few more colours from the range, as the gel makes my nails so very shiny, and apparently should last up to 10 days.
I then went over the black with the NYC Rock Muse Smoky Top Coat, which again was only £1.99 from Superdrug. The black nail polish in this comes through a bit faint, which is why a black base coat needs to be applied first to get a opaque smooth colour. It has glitter particles in two sizes, little tiny specks as well as larger glitter pieces. It dried fairly quickly and glossy, but I still gave it a final coat of Seche Vite top coat to give ultimate protection and shine.
I’ve not mentioned my love for Seche Vite on my blog before, even though I’ve been using it for ages. But it is amazing and I’ve not found another clear top coat like it anywhere. It goes on really thick and dries crystal clear, hard, and glossy. It helps protect the nail polish so it lasts longer, I only have to paint my nails once a week, if that. I really recommend it on top of any other nail polish, and it’s only £5 or so from Amazon online.

Oooh, I like how pretty the NYC polish is. I've used a couple of their nail polishes in the past and really liked the formula of them, so I'll probably have to pick this one up soon!

I picked up the green shade in this range a while ago and still haven't gotten around to trying it out! This looks great 🙂

This looks so cool! I definitely think it's possible to do black nails without looking gothic 🙂 You should try the Barry M matte black next! 🙂 I didn't know the miss sporty ones were a gel formula either, I'll be giving them a try now, yours definitely look very glossy 🙂

This looks really pretty, I love black polish but it's very hard to find a good one. I really like the Maybeline black as it's very opaque with just one coat. I definitely want to give the Miss Sporty ones a go though as they are such a good price.

I love the NYC Rock Muse, it's gorgeous on your nails! I've never tried Seche Vite but I really want to.
