Life in Instagram: May & June 2018

I’ve been so busy lately that last month I didn’t even get the chance to do a little Life in Instagram post for May! I’m also a bit late in doing it for June too, so here you go…

In May I was busy enjoying the start of summer as we had some gorgeous sunny days which I spent going on bike rides and enjoying BBQ’s! I also went on my weekend away to The Cotswolds and went to Slam Dunk festival in Hatfield which was AMAZING and the best Slam Dunk yet!

In June I finally went on my summer holiday to Jamaica and I promise you I will have lots more photos coming soon! Upon my return from holiday I went to see Katy Perry live and also visited my friend Emma in London where we enjoyed the hottest afternoon ever on a gorgeous roof terrace.

Last weekend I invited a couple of friends round for another little tea party! I know… I’m such a loser, but I promise you it’s more fun than it sounds! The last one I did back in April was for Easter (see here), and the theme for this one was ‘tropical’ so I couldn’t resist buying everything I could find with a flamingo/pineapple on. I put on a spread including cheesy nachos, chicken fajitas, grilled halloumi, eton mess, and pink lemonade! I will do a full blog post soon!

This weather has been so gorgeous that I have basically ditched any healthy eating in favour of BBQ’s, ice cream, and full fat Coke (nothing is more refreshing that a can of Coke!). I’m sure I’m not the only one though.. I mean, who can resist a big grilled burger and a sausage.. and then another burger…

This cute picnic basket/cool bag I picked up from Home Bargains a couple of summers ago for about £8, and I believe that they still do something very similar this year too! And the pink polka dot paper plates and cups are just a set from Poundland which match nicely!

Also can we all just appreciate how gorgeous my baby cat Marshall is please? He is so tiny compared to Merlin and so white and fluffy! He is a little terror though but he will let me pick him up for cuddles… isn’t he adorable?!

Check out these bargains I picked up on a recent shopping trip.. can you believe that all these Models Own nail polishes I found in Poundland! Along with the Models Own lip balm and face wipes too. Total bargains! I also bought these cute fruity snack boxes from Tiger for £2 and the lemon print glasses were only 50p each!

I love this little corner of my flat with the dining room table. I usually have a cute canvas print hanging up on the wall but I recently picked up this flamingo print wallpaper sample from The Range and I decided it would look cute hanging up instead! I only planned to keep it up temporarily but I’ve decided I like it so much it can definitely stay at least until the end of summer!

If you follow me on Instagram then you’ve probably already suffered through enough of my holiday spam, but there’s plenty more to come…

Before I went away on holiday I did a bit of beauty prep including getting lash extensions, a massage, and gel nails. I absolutely love getting lash extensions done but I could never wear them permanently as I do find them a bit annoying after a while and I can never remove my eyeliner properly!

These pink nails I had done a couple of weeks ago, but for holiday I had the most amazing tropical flamingo nails ever! I will show you those in my holiday blog post….

I visited my friend Emma in London on possibly the hottest day EVER! It was absolutely boiling and we were thinking of something nice to do in the glorious weather when she suggested we visit John Lewis on Oxford Street. Not very exciting I hear you say… but they actually have a secret roof terrace which turned out to be the most perfect place to spend a summers afternoon!

The roof terrace is a hidden gem and we were lucky to get there just as it opened at noon, because people soon started filling the place up! The garden was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful; it looked like a secret garden in the middle of central London. They had a bar serving Fever-Tree’s Gin and Tonic cocktails as well as fried chicken specialists Butchies serving food. We sat in the sun sipping our cocktails for a couple of hours before beginning to feel a little bit sunburnt! We then walked over to Selfridges to check out the make up counters and stuff our faces with treats from Lola’s Cupcakes in the food hall. Yum!

.

I’ve recently gone on a bit of a spending spree basically buying anything with a flamingo on! I bought this cute flamingo print cushion cover from Ali Express for only £2 and this gorgeous bedding from Amazon which I just adore! It’s so perfect for summer and I just love the colours.

I also have a brand new flamingo print double duvet to give away to one lucky reader! You can enter to win over on Instagram and Twitter:  Good luck!! T&C’s: UK only, ends 15/07.

Over the May Bank Holiday weekend I went to Slam Dunk South which is a day festival with loads of rock/metal/pop punk bands all in one place. I got to see some of my favourite bands including Knuckle Puck, Taking Back Sunday, Trash Boat and Moose Blood, and the new outdoor venue really made it feel like a ‘proper’ festival compared to previous years, and the weather was just perfect!

I also took my 14 year old niece to see Katy Perry in Birmingham which was also pretty fabulous! I’d seen Katy Perry back in 2011 and I was so excited to get to see her again. She puts on such an amazing show! So many dancers, outfit changes, props and backdrops! It was so colourful and over the top, I loved it!
