During our recent trip to London we decided to try Flat Iron; a popular steak restaurant known for selling their signature steaks for only £11. Gav and I love ordering steak whenever we go out for dinner so we were excited to visit Flat Iron and see what all the fuss was about! Their website is a bit mysterious as there’s no menu, and they don’t take table reservations. I hear that they’re usually pretty busy and you might have to queue to get a table, but as it was raining when we went there were a few spare tables…

Last month I invited a few of my friends over for another one of my tea parties! This one was a little bit different though, as I decided to have a tropical themed tea party to celebrate summer and the amazing heatwave that we were experiencing! I’m sad that the heatwave is now over… So instead of stuffing our faces with sandwiches, cakes, and scones, I came up with a more summery themed menu as I wanted to try something a little bit different to my usual. Gone were the floral vintage tea cups and fancy silver cutlery, and in…

I was recently invited to stay at Chicheley Hall, a gorgeous Grade I listed English country house just outside of Milton Keynes. The 18th century Baroque style mansion is home to 48 rooms, a restaurant and a bar all set within 80 acres of beautifully kept grounds. Its secluded countryside location offers the perfect respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Bedroom After checking in at reception we went to find our room, the Cartwright suite, which is part of the original Grade I listed part of the house. The suite is a stunning large room with solid…

Last month we went out for Gavin’s birthday dinner to a pub fairly local to us but one that we’d not been to before. The Wheatsheaf in Bow Brickhill is just outside of Milton Keynes and is part of the Heroic Pubs group who also run the Knife and Cleaver in Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire. The pub underwent a substantial refurbishment last year and I was excited to visit after hearing so much about it! Although it looks like a cute little village pub from the outside, inside is actually a sleek and modern interior with an open kitchen and stylish…

I was recently invited to try out the trendy, nostalgic Cosy Club restaurant in Coventry. I’d tried out the Cosy Club in Stamford a few years ago and absolutely loved the food and the atmosphere, so I was really looking forward to visiting the Coventry branch! I’d never been to Coventry before, despite it only being 30 minutes away from me on the train from Milton Keynes, so it was nice to have a little day out somewhere new! Before we went for lunch at the Cosy Club, we walked around the shops in the town centre and visited the…
