Last weekend Terri and I got the train into Birmingham to have a little mini break in the UK’s second city courtesy of Marriott. We were invited along to spend the night in their hotel which is located at the top of Broad Street, and we also had the chance to look around a couple of the cities most popular attractions.  Birmingham Attractions As great as it is to take a holiday or city break abroad, sometimes it’s nice to spend some time and learn new things about the places on your doorstep.  I went to university in Birmingham for…

My parents have their birthdays two days apart from each other, so each year I take them both for a birthday meal somewhere different.  This year we decided to head to our local Jamie’s Italian restaurant which is in Central Milton Keynes.   We all love Italian food so we thought this would be perfect to suit everyone! We had all been together once before a year or so ago, and as we enjoyed it so much we thought we’d go along to try out their most recent menu. Jamie’s Italian  Unfortunately when we arrived we were told by our lovely…

A few weeks ago after work I went for a little evening out and girlie catch up with another Milton Keynes blogger, Hazel.  Here’s my review of our amazing Cuban meal at cocktail bar and restaurant Revolucion De Cuba in Milton Keynes.  We’d been once before and we can always count on it for a fun evening with a great atmosphere. We went on a Wednesday which is their Salsa night and there was an amazing group of dancers in the middle of the restaurant dancing the night away!  Revolucion De Cuba I always like the atmosphere at Revolucion De…

A few weeks ago I was kindly invited for dinner at a local gastro pub; The Old Thatched Inn at Adstock, near Buckingham.  One of the girls I work with raves about this lovely countryside pub, so I was really looking forward to visiting and trying out their seasonal menu. I went along one weekday evening with my parents after spending the whole day on food rations so that we were really hungry for our meal! Although The Old Thatched Inn is technically a ‘pub’, it’s certainly not your average local pub.  It offers real good quality, fine dining whilst…

One of the local Ember Inns pubs in Milton Keynes has recently undergone a fresh new refurbishment and I was kindly invited to try them out.  I frequently pass the Ship Ashore pub in Willen as it is just over the road from my office, but I’d never actually tried it out before. We popped in one weekday evening to enjoy a new dining experience at the pub which is ran by Ember Inns.  The new refurb has left the pub feeling very cosy and homely inside, with mismatched furniture and rustic touches. I really liked the atmosphere inside and…

If you’re feeling peckish or are on a no-cake diet, look away now! I recently found this adorable little tea room local to me in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. It’s called Cakestand and Crumb and is a tiny little vintage style cafe down a little side street in the pretty town. I visited back in November and I’m planning on popping in again this weekend for a scone and an excellent big slice of their home made cake! The cafe is only small with a few little tables but it is so so pretty! The tables and chairs are all lovingly upcycled…
