Beauty and self-care hacks to help you this summer

Summer is here, bringing long days and plenty of sunshine. While it’s a season we all look forward to, it can also bring challenges for your skin and hair. Luckily, there are simple and effective beauty hacks that can help you stay fresh and glowing throughout the summer.

Ice rollers

You’ve probably heard of ice baths, but a more practical and less dramatic way to cool down your face is by using an ice roller. This simple device works wonders for calming down redness from heat or sun exposure and can help reduce puffiness in the morning.

Just keep it in the fridge or freezer and roll it gently over your face whenever you need a pick-me-up. The cold sensation tightens your skin and stimulates blood flow, which can help give your complexion a natural, dewy glow.

Hair thickener spray

Humidity and heat can make hair flat and lifeless in summer, but a good hair thickener spray can help you keep your locks voluminous all day. This lightweight product works by adding texture and lift to your hair, giving it the appearance of thickness and fullness, especially on those days when your hair refuses to hold a style.

To use, simply spray the product onto freshly dried hair before styling. The use is versatile as it can cover thinning or receding hair, bald spots, and can even be used for root touch-ups in between appointments.

SPF tinted moisturiser

With the summer heat comes the need for a lighter, more breathable makeup routine. Tinted moisturiser is a game-changer because it combines the benefits of a moisturiser and foundation in one. It provides just enough coverage to even out your skin tone without feeling heavy, and it often comes with added sun protection.

This means you get hydration, a natural finish, and SPF protection all in one product. It’s ideal for those scorching summer days when you don’t want to worry about your makeup melting off or clogging your pores. To apply, use either your fingers or a brush to blend into your skin, focusing on any areas where you may need more coverage.

Dry brushing

This skincare technique involves using a natural-bristle brush to stimulate circulation and exfoliate the skin. When done regularly, dry brushing can leave your skin looking radiant and feeling incredibly soft as it helps to remove dead skin, promoting a healthy appearance.

To dry brush, use long, sweeping motions starting from your feet and working your way up your body. The motion encourages lymphatic drainage, which also helps to remove toxins and reduce bloating.
