We’re now all settled into our new house and I’ve been enjoying getting the place all nice and cosy ready for winter! The house is Victorian so the ceilings are really high and we have huge sash windows in each room, which sounds lovely but these quirky characteristics mean that it can get a bit chilly! We also have wood-effect laminate flooring throughout and minimal insulation in our original slate roof, so we needed to find ways to keep ourselves warm and feeling cosy – especially for winter! I’ve been doing some research on ways to keep the house nice…

My blog has been a little bit quiet lately and in case you don’t already know from following me on social media – I’ve bought a new house! I say ‘I’ but really I mean ‘we’, as I sold my flat and me and Gavin have now bought our first home together! Super exciting! So I’ve been busy moving/decorating/DIYing for the past four weeks and things are now settling down again. We’ve done so much work to the house already, but there’s still plenty to do! You can follow our renovation adventure on my new Instagram account @victoriahouse78 The house…

Sleep is the most important part of your day, so the most important thing in your home and worth investing in is your mattress. At my old flat we slept on one of those mattresses that you see in the adverts on TV that roll up into a box and are made from 100% foam. Last month we went on a little romantic break to The Cotswolds which is one of my favourite places in the whole world! There are so many quintessentially English little tea rooms and country pubs – I just love it! It’s the perfect place to go for a nice little weekend away. In one of the towns we visited called Stow-on-the-Wold, we popped into a lovely antique shop called Tara Antique Centre on the market square. I love browsing antique shops and looking at all the old interior accessories and vintage decorative furnishings and dreaming about how I could make…

Moving out of my parents house for the first time was a big step for me but I’m proud of how well I’ve managed. If anything, life is much simpler! And quieter.. I love how peaceful my new home is despite it being in a more central location and my parents house was in a sleepy village. I’ve already shared with you my bedroom and kitchen room tours, so this is the dining room edition! I say dining room, it’s not actually a separate room, more of a dining ‘area’ on one side of the living room next to the…

So it’s been over a year since I moved into my own place after living at home for 26 years! I was never one of these people that was ‘ashamed’ about living at home even though I was in my twenties; it made sense for me. I was lucky to get on really well with my parents, I had my own space and freedom, and the financial outgoings were minimal. Living at home whilst working full time allowed me to save a chunk of my wages every month to put towards a deposit, but I still didn’t think I’d ever…
