On Sunday I took my parents out for afternoon tea at a manor house hotel. It was my Mothers Day gift to my Mum. The hotel is called the Woodland Manor, in Bedfordshire, and it’s a traditional English country home. It had beautiful countryside views and pretty gardens. Here are some photo’s from the day.
My cheesy OOTD:
The Manor House
The sandwiches: These were a selection of salmon, cheese, ham, and beef.
There were only 4 scones between 3 of us which was a bit random. So we only got 1 and a bit each, and the jam and cream was lacking enough. Gutted they weren’t sultana scones.
The ‘cake’ selection was a major disappointment. The cakes weren’t home made, and weren’t even supermarket baked, they were the cheapest of the cheap cakes. They all tasted the same – bland. Also, I don’t think muffins count as an afternoon tea cake.
Overall it was a nice trip out, the building was lovely, and I think my Mum enjoyed herself. But it doesn’t even compare to the lovely afternoon tea I’ve enjoyed twice now at The Grosvenor in Stratford Upon Avon.
Next weekend we’re going to another manor house for a day trip in Cambridgeshire! We’re going to the Wimpole Estate which is a mansion with gardens, and a working farm! I love farms.
