My New Bargain £80 GE X400 Bridge Camera Review ♥

Sorry if this is a boring post, but I’ve been whinging and whining for a while now about wanting a new
camera, specifically a bridge for my blogging. I was thinking of getting
a Fujifilm, and I was kindly sent a SL240
on loan to test out. However, after giving it a go I just didn’t get
along with it. The 24x zoom lens on it is fantastic, but I couldn’t
adjust the colour to look natural. I took the photo of the fox at the end of this post with the Fuji so you can see the excellent zoom. I’m no photography expert so maybe this camera was just a little too complex for me.

The images came out beautifully
sharp and excellent quality, I just didn’t like the tone, colour, and
brightness of the photos; especially when taken indoors. So, testing out
that camera was very helpful as I have no idea about camera settings,
but in the end I decided to buy a cheap and cheerful GE X400 bridge camera which was on special offer for only £80 at Tesco! Also available for only £79 with free delivery from Amazon.

You
may think that because it’s so cheap it will be crap. But I am honestly really
happy with it! It’s really easy for a camera novice like me to use, but
it still has lots of manual settings for me to fiddle with. My old Canon
A3300 compact had a great autofocus, but the sharpness wasn’t
up to scratch and was a little bit wishy washy and had no definition. But I find that my new GE camera (which is a brand I had never heard of but Dad insists it was a proper electronic make back in the day) produces really sharp, good quality images.

I thought I would do a blog post on it in case any other bloggers are looking for a good camera at excellent value for money! I was quite cautious of buying it as I was so set on a Fuji, but I thought I may as well try it out for the price, and I was really glad I did. It’s also much smaller than a regular bridge camera, and fits into my handbag. It probably isn’t a great camera if you’re a photo pro, but for me it is perfect. I don’t even know what these fancy DSLR cameras with detachable lenses do! But that’s probably why I should stick to this 😉 Anyway here are some sample comparison photos between my new camera on the left, and my old Canon A3300 on the right, which I was previously quite happy with until I compared the photos! You can really see the difference in quality and depth, especially in the last photo of my shelf.

Also, I was having a bit of a struggle understanding all of the settings, so on Twitter Jemma, who is a photographer, gave me a little help, and she’s now also done a fab blog post to help any other notice camera users understand settings!
