Wrapping up Warm for Winter Walks

As we’ve now been placed under a third lockdown, it’s back to going on daily walks to cure boredom. Over New Year I spent 10 days in the house and it was horrible, so I’ve decided I need to get out a bit more and go for walks as often as I can! A bit of fresh air never hurt anyone – and walking can really help to improve self-esteem, mood, sleep quality, and it reduces stress, anxiety and fatigue.

Winter Walks

We recently visited Rushmere Country Park which is a 210 acre woodland park near Leighton Buzzard. There’s a sculpture trail, cycle trails, little fairy doors and The Giant’s Chair, so it’s a great place for families. I really enjoyed seeing all the frost covered Christmas trees and crunchy red leaves on the ground.

Wrap Up Warm

To stay cosy I wrapped up in my new coat from Lighthouse Clothing. It’s called the Kendal Raincoat in Nightshade which is a gorgeous deep blue colour.  It’s got a classic country jacket style which is fully lined with a woven check fabric, removable hood and corduroy trim. Plus, it’s windproof highly waterproof so it will keep me warm and dry too! I like that the waist has an adjustable drawcord so you can tighten it to suit you and it gives a nice feminine shape.

Walking Boots

I also wore my new Dr Martens chelsea boots for our walk- I absolutely love the style! They don’t look like traditional Dr Martens and I quite like that because I’ve never felt ‘cool’ enough to wear the lace up ones! Dr Martens are a British footwear brand and they’re headquartered and produced quite locally to me in Northamptonshire.

I love the classic country style of these which are perfect for wearing on a winter walk – they look great worn with a waxed jacket for a traditional countryside look! These chelsea boots are made from leather and feature a double elasticated gusset, back pull tab and the iconic Dr Marten rubbersole.

Going for winter walks is one of the easiest ways to be more active, lose weight and become healthier – and a great way to start off the New Year’s health kick! Plus, a good walk can do wonders for your mental wellbeing. Besides.. there’s not much else to do right now!

Stay safe everyone!

  1. I don’t think I can remember what boredom is! Working in a school (no we’re not closed no matter what the media say…) lockdown is even more stressful and hectic than normal term time. I don’t have the energy to be bored when I get home!

  2. Obsessed with those boots!
