My Experience Wedding Dress Shopping at Wed2B Milton Keynes

Shopping for a wedding dress is an experience that most little girls dream of, but it can be pretty nerve-wracking too. I was a bit anxious about shopping for my dress, so I didn’t want to go straight to a fancy dress boutique. I’m not 100% sure why, but I just didn’t feel comfortable with it being made into a ‘big’ event and all the attention being on me. I just wanted to find a dress and be done with it, so I wanted to look in Wed2b Milton Keynes.

Review of Wed2b Milton Keynes

I’d heard a lot about Wed2B and we have a branch local to me in Milton Keynes, so that was the place I wanted to visit first, just to get a feel of wedding dress shopping. I liked the idea of Wed2B as it was more of a casual shopping experience, so here’s my review of Wed2B in Milton Keynes!

You don’t need to book an appointment, there are lots of other brides in the store at the same time, and it just didn’t seem as intimidating. My plan was that once I had an idea of what kind of dress I wanted and how I looked, I would then feel more comfortable going into a proper bridal boutique to find ‘the one’.

I also liked that I could look online at the types of dresses that were stocked by Wed2B. With normal bridal shops you are kind of going in blind, without having a clue what dresses they have available, and no idea of the prices.

Looking on their website first meant I had an idea of the dresses I liked the look of, and I knew what to expect in terms of price. Almost all of their dresses are under £699, but I think they really make their money with the add on’s and accessories – they are pricey.

I had seen a few dresses online that I wanted to try on at Wed2B, and luckily they were all in stock in my size! They have so many dresses in store that are ready to be tried on and bought there and then. So there’s plenty to choose from!

I tried three different dresses on and fell in love with one dress right away, the Madaline. A strapless a-line dress with a sweetheart neckline, floral lace bodice and a lace up back. I knew it was the one for me right away and it was exactly what I had in my mind. To customize it, I added a really beautiful bridal belt with pearls and crystals, and embroidered lace off-the-shoulder straps.

I also tried on a veil with the dress and I hated it! I wasn’t 100% sure if I wanted a veil or not beforehand, but upon trying one on with the dress, it just seemed like there was too much going on. But they have so many different veils and accessories for you to try on if you’re not sure. You can always go and buy them elsewhere if you like how they look.

I loved the shape and style of the dress, and I thought the neckline was quite flattering as I’m not very busty. I wanted a princess skirt and this one was so nice and full but also not too heavy. The straps also added a bit of coverage to my arms, and the sparkly belt gave my waist a bit of definition. I also loved the lace up back and the delicate sequin detail.

I really felt like a princess for the day wearing this dress, and it was comfortable to wear too. I didn’t need to get any alterations done to it except shortening the length, and sewing on the belt and straps. I had my alterations done by a lovely local lady called Lisa Carrington in Wolverton and she was amazing!

I’m glad I didn’t have to spend thousands on a dress I will only wear once. Wed2B dresses are good value for money in comparison to most bridal shops, but with all the add on’s and alterations, it still came to over £1,000 – so be prepared! Although I think they do offer Klarna if you want to pay it in instalments. Also, if you’re considering buying a cheap wedding dress from an online Chinese store to try and save money – don’t do it.

My bridesmaids dresses were also from Wed2B – we picked the Haven Grecian-inspired dress in blush pink, which also had off the shoulder straps. The bridesmaids looked gorgeous in the floaty long dresses and although they are all totally different shapes and sizes, the dresses fit them so nicely. Don’t they all look great?!

Wed2B do 6 different beautiful bridesmaid dress designs which can be ordered in 15 different colours. So if your bridesmaids prefer to wear different styles, the colour can still match.

I had a really nice shopping experience at Wed2B in Milton Keynes, and it was everything I wanted – no frills or fuss. I’m sure some people will screw their faces up at the thought of buying a wedding dress here, but I have nothing but good things to say about the dress and the experience. My bridal consultant was really friendly and helpful, and she made me feel welcome and comfortable. She helped me try on the dresses and you’re also allowed to take photos, which a lot of boutiques don’t allow.

There was also no ‘hard sell’ on the extras. I chose to buy the straps and an underskirt, but I decided against buying the belt. I actually ended up buying the belt brand new on eBay for half the price! I also like that once you find your dream dress in store, you can take it home with you there and then! There’s no need to order it in and wait weeks for it to arrive, and stressing over the company potentially disappearing with your money and no dress (I’ve heard this happen!).

My top tips for wedding dress shopping at Wed2B:

Browse their website beforehand and note down your favourite dresses
You can call them before you visit to check if they have your top picks in stock to try on
You can only try on 4 dresses at a time, so choose your top 4!
Bring your positive but honest family/friends/bridesmaids along to support you
Don’t be nervous about the consultant seeing you in your undies!
Wear suitable underwear (support pants and a strapless bra)
Feel free to say ‘no thanks’ to the accessories if you don’t want them.
Be prepared to pay for the packaging. I think my ‘premium dress box’ was £40!
Weekends are busy, so get there for when they open. Otherwise you may have to wait.
Try on different styles if you don’t know what you like. When you find ‘the one’, you’ll know!
Wear your hair and do your make up in a similar way to how you would have it on the day
Bring your wedding shoes along or a similar shoe so you can see how you will look
Don’t feel under pressure – if you don’t feel 100% about a dress, don’t buy it
Read their returns policy – you only have 14 days to return for a refund
Buy a dress that fits you – not one that you hope to slim into
