My Go-To TV Shows to Relax, Unwind, and Enjoy

This post is a collaboration with TV Licensing (a trademark of the BBC), but all thoughts and experiences are my own.

After a long day at work, there’s nothing I love more than getting comfortable on the sofa and tuning into a good TV show to take my mind off things. Whether it’s a slow Sunday morning easy-watch or a mid-week reality show, TV time is my happy place!

Here’s a little peek into my weekly routine and the shows that help me unwind:

Getting Festive with Christmas Films

As we’re quickly heading into December, first up on my list of TV to watch is Christmas films! There’s something so cosy about lounging on the sofa in warm pyjamas, with some snacks and treats whilst enjoying a classic Christmas film.

TV channels make every effort to impress with back-to-back Christmas films at this time of year, but my favourite has got to be Home Alone! Can you believe I’ve never watched Love Actually? I need to add that one to my must-watch list this year! Christmas Day films on TV are a tradition now, and I feel like they make the day feel extra special, bringing everyone together in the most festive way!

Sunday Mornings with Sunday Brunch: The Perfect Slow Start

There’s something so perfect about easing into a lazy Sunday with the light-hearted chatter of Sunday Brunch. The hosts, the celebrity guests, and the delicious recipes – they all make it feel like the ultimate easy Sunday.

I like checking out which recipes look doable, even though I’m unlikely to ever try them myself – but, it’s nice to imagine! The guests are usually surprisingly good too – my favourites have been Bring Me the Horizon and You Me At Six.

Friday Night Laughs with Gogglebox: The TV Show About Watching TV

By Friday, I’m usually feeling a bit drained, but Gogglebox is my go-to pick-me-up. Honestly, there’s something so funny about watching other people’s reactions to TV shows! The Gogglebox families always say what we’re all thinking, but somehow, it’s ten times funnier.

We love watching this together with a takeaway, so it’s the perfect start to our weekend! Especially in the winter months, Gogglebox makes me feel warm and cosy at home, watching other people warm and cosy in their living rooms!

Reality TV Fix with Married at First Sight: Pure Drama, Zero Stress

When I want some pure, no-stress entertainment, Married at First Sight is my guilty pleasure. This is a programme we both enjoy watching together, snuggled up on the sofa, and it’s the perfect escape. There’s just something so satisfying about watching characters that I love to hate!

Watching other people navigate these wild situations is the perfect way to unwind and take my mind off everything else.

Making TV Time My Chill Time

TV time is a part of my self-care routine, a way to reconnect, and a guaranteed way to de-stress. So, if you’re looking for me after a long day, you’ll find me curled up on the sofa, catching up on one of my favourite shows!
