Giraffe Encounter at Woburn Safari Park

Nestled in the heart of Bedfordshire, Woburn Safari Park offers wildlife adventure mixed with family fun! I recently had the pleasure of visiting Woburn Safari Park and taking part in a very exciting VIP experience.

As you drive along the road safari, you go on a journey through the different zones where you can see lions basking in the sun, tigers prowling, and rhinos grazing. It’s so amazing to see these majestic animals up close from the comfort of your car. But the real highlight for me was the giraffe encounter!

This unique 30-minute guided tour offers you the chance to meet the majestic giraffes face-to-face, either within their indoor house or from a Land Rover, depending on the season. This special experience allows you to get up close and personal with these gentle giants. We visited in the summer, so the giraffe herd were roaming in their nine-acre parkland.

Guided by a knowledgeable and friendly staff member, we were driven in a VIP Land Rover to the giraffe herd. From here we stayed inside the vehicle and watched these beautiful animals enjoying the August sunshine. We were then allowed to feed the gentle giants ourselves. I was a little bit nervous at first, but feeding the giraffes was so much fun, as their long tongues gently took leaves right from my hand! The giraffes curious and calm demeanour made the experience even more special.

The staff’s passion for the animals and their dedication to educating visitors is so heart-warming. Our guide provided fascinating insights into the giraffes’ behaviour, diet, and conservation efforts. She was always ready to answer questions and ensure that we had a memorable time.

Beyond the giraffe encounter, Woburn Safari Park offers many more attractions. The Foot Safari is perfect for a leisurely stroll, where you can visit the sea lions, lemurs, and red pandas. The park also boasts an adventure playground for children, a petting farm, the boat lake, and some lovely picnic spots, making it an ideal destination for families.
