2. Ye Olde Swan, Woughton-on-the-Green

A proper historic village pub with so much charm. The garden at Ye Olde Swan is one of my favourites – peaceful and green, ideal for sunny lunches, and it feels tucked away from everything. Come winter, the roaring fires, low beams and snug interiors make it feel extra cosy and intimate. Perfect for both quiet summer afternoons and winter dinners.

3. The Old Beams, Shenley Lodge

This barn-style pub in Shenley Lodge is a favourite for a reason. It has a lovely outdoor space for drinks and dining in summer, with plenty of room to relax with friends.

4. Warbler on the Wharf, Campbell Wharf Marina

For a more modern option, the Warbler On The Wharf is all about the views. The marina-side terrace is made for summer drinks and sunset evenings.

Even in winter, it keeps a warm, lively atmosphere, so it works year-round if you prefer something more contemporary.

Set in the heart of the beautiful village of Woburn just outside of Milton Keynes, this pub has a lovely courtyard garden that is perfect for summer drinks.

10. The Craufurd Arms, Wolverton

If you’re into live music, The Craufurd Arms is an absolute Milton Keynes institution. This independent pub and gig venue in Wolverton has built a national reputation for its intimate live shows, hosting everyone from local up-and-coming bands to well-known touring acts. Rock, punk, metal and alternative music are its bread and butter, but you’ll also find comedy nights, open mics and themed events throughout the year.

Even if you’re not heading to a gig, it’s a brilliant pub in its own right. Expect a relaxed, no-frills atmosphere, a good selection of beers, ciders and spirits, friendly staff and a welcoming crowd. The main bar has plenty of character, while the dedicated live room creates an electric atmosphere on show nights. It’s a little different from your typical Milton Keynes pub, and that’s exactly why it’s worth visiting. If you’re looking for somewhere with personality and one of the best nights out in MK, The Craufurd Arms should definitely be on your list.
