If you’re looking for a spa hotel near Milton Keynes, Whittlebury Park is one to put on your list. Set in the Northamptonshire countryside, just outside Towcester and a short drive from Milton Keynes, Whittlebury Park is home to a hotel, spa, leisure club, restaurants and a 36-hole golf course.
I recently stayed at Whittlebury Park and it was just the sort of relaxing overnight break I needed. We had dinner in Astons Restaurant, made use of the leisure facilities, and finished our stay with a tasty breakfast.
Ad disclosure: This experience was gifted, but this post reflects my honest opinions, as always.

Staying at Whittlebury Park
Whittlebury Park is tucked away in the countryside near Towcester, so it has that feeling of being away from everything without actually having to travel very far.
The resort has 254 bedrooms, along with the spa, leisure club, restaurants and golf course, so there is plenty to keep you occupied during a stay.
One of the best things about staying somewhere like this is that you don’t need to make lots of plans. You can check in, have dinner, spend some time at the spa or pool and there’s no need to drive anywhere else.
Dinner at Astons Restaurant
We had dinner at Astons Restaurant, which is Whittlebury’s more relaxed restaurant. The restaurant has a mix of classic and modern dishes, and has a lovely setting for a relaxed evening meal.
We really enjoyed our dinner here – we had the tomato soup and bresaola Italian cured beef as our starters, plus roast chicken and a beef dish as our main courses. I also treated myself to the blueberry cheesecake dessert! After our meal we also went to relax in the Silverstone Bar for a drink.
It was so nice to have everything on-site, and it meant we could have a drink and dinner without having to get back in the car.
Whittlebury Park Leisure Facilities
Whittlebury Park has wonderful spa and leisure facilities. We spent some time in the swimming pool in the morning, had a dip in the hot tub, and made use of the steam room and rock salt sauna. It was a lovely way to spend a few hours without feeling like we had to do anything too energetic.
I think this is what makes Whittlebury work well for a short break. You can spend your time moving between the different facilities, take a swim, relax in the hot tub and then find somewhere quiet to sit for a while.
The Leisure Club is separate from the Day Spa, with the wider Whittlebury spa offering additional Heat & Ice experiences and thermal facilities.
Breakfast at Whittlebury Park
Breakfast is always one of the things I look forward to when staying in a hotel, and the buffet breakfast at Whittlebury Park didn’t disappoint.
Breakfast is served in Astons and includes both hot and cold options. There is a full English alongside continental choices, so you can have as much or as little as you fancy.
After our morning enjoying the leisure facilities, it was particularly nice to sit down to a proper breakfast rather than having to rush off. For me, a good hotel breakfast is an important part of an overnight stay, and having plenty of choice made this a satisfying end to our visit.
Whittlebury Golf
If you’re a golfer, Whittlebury is definitely worth considering. The resort has a 36-hole championship golf course, made up of four nine-hole loops. The combinations can be changed, so there are different courses to play rather than simply repeating the same 18 holes.
The golf course is right on the Whittlebury Park estate, alongside the hotel and other facilities. There is also a TopTracer driving range if you want to practise your swing.
So if you’re looking for a golf and spa hotel in Northamptonshire, this could be a good option for a weekend away.
A Spa Break Near Milton Keynes
Overall, I really enjoyed our stay at Whittlebury Park. We had a relaxing dinner at Astons, spent time in the pool, and then enjoyed a good buffet breakfast before heading home.
It’s also a convenient location if you’re looking for a spa hotel near Milton Keynes, as Whittlebury is only a short drive away while still feeling like you’ve escaped to the countryside. The hotel is also close to Towcester and Silverstone.
I would particularly recommend Whittlebury if you enjoy having lots of facilities to use during a hotel break. Whether you’re interested in the spa, want to relax by the pool, fancy a round of golf or simply want a night away with dinner and breakfast included, there is plenty here to fill a weekend.
