Easter Treats ♥

I had a sudden urge of boredom a few days ago, so I decided to do a bit of Easter preperation and make a few little treats. They’re just simple little things, they don’t even require baking! And I managed to resist scoffing all the chocolate mini eggs (although I did lick the chocolatey spoon). I also dressed up our naff little vase of twigs into an ‘Easter Tree’ using cute little decorations I got from DotComGiftShop a few years ago. I noticed they have some sparkly egg hanging decorations in Poundland too.

So what I put together in the kitchen was little chocolate cornflake nest cakes and also I attempted to make some kind of Kinder eggs using my new little silicone egg moulds from Poundworld. Ingredients required was simply chocolate (I get the 40p stuff from Lidl, it’s delicious!), cornflakes, and mini eggs.. easy!

To make the little Kinder eggs I simply melted down a bar of milk chocolate in my little silicone melting pot from Lakeland,l which you just pop in the microwave, so no messy bain marie! I then used a silicone pastry brush to spread an even layer into each egg mould. After I left this to cool in the fridge, I did the same with the white chocolate and added another layer.. yum! Then once cooled, I popped them out of the moulds and glued them together with more melted chocolate.

For the cornflake cakes I mashed up some cornflakes in a bowl, and then poured on more melted milk chocolate. After a good mix and ensuring the cornflakes are evenly coated, I put them into cake cases (these cute ones are only £1 from Tesco!) and decorated with mini eggs. Ta da! Me and Mum are also making Figolli Easter biscuits this weekend too, which are a Maltese treat at Easter (my Mums from Malta) which are huge sweet almond and lemon biscuits iced and beautifully decorated.
