Easter is one of my favourite times of year because it signifies that summer is on its way (and all the spring bank holidays), and also just because I love the pretty things! Easter and spring is the season for pretty pastel colours and polka dots, and over the years I’ve picked up a few pretty home decorations specifically for this time of year. I also love Easter baking, and me and my Mum make the traditional Maltese Easter biscuit called figolli (large iced almond biscuits) every year! Making these yummy little chocolate Easter nests is easy. I simply melted…

Last weekend I held a little tea party for my family at home in our dining room. My Mum and I spent the day before preparing some food and bits for the table, including scones, lemon drizzle cake, jelly, Easter shaped chocolates, chocolate nest cakes, and plenty of sandwiches! I absolutely love making lemon cake in the spring time, I think it’s so refreshing in the sunshine and it looked so pretty presented on my pink glass cake stand. To make the chocolates I used a bunny rabbit and Easter egg silicone mould that I bought from the 99p store,…

As the title says really! About a month ago when Liam was away and I was bored one weekend, I decided to build myself a Disney Frozen themed cake for absolutely no reason at all. I’ve never even seen the film, but I had a lot of left over buttercream to use up and some plastic figurines so I set about making it! If you’re not interested in cakes or you’re feeling hungry you should probably look away now! For those of you that don’t know, I run a little cake business from my home. I’m all registered and insured etc, and I sell through local advertising and mainly on my Facebook page. I’m called Victoria’s Vintage Cakes, because I keep my cakes classic and simple, and I don’t like to do novelty stuff! And it’s the name of my blog so.. durr! My business is very almost a whole two years old, and I’ve done much better than I ever imagined. I’m…

I was so pleased when we were unexpectedly told we would be leaving work three hours early today! Yay! That meant that I could get home and get on with my Christmas baking, which included finishing off some cupcakes, a yule log, and chocolate houses that I’d been preparing over the weekend. Although I don’t take many orders for cakes at the moment because I’m just too busy, I still take a few and I did three for Christmas Eve this year (last year I pushed myself too hard with 7 orders!). So here’s what I’ve been baking for Christmas…

I’ve just realised I’ve not done a blog post on the cakes that I make for a few months. In case you didn’t already know, I have a little cake business Victoria’s Vintage Cakes, which I try to run in my spare time. It can be a bit difficult as I work full time, but I often take orders for weekends or I can do small orders during the week sometimes.  I’m not a sugarcraft pro so I don’t charge huge amounts and I don’t make much money from it, but it’s something I enjoy doing in my spare time.…
