I Won a Trip to the Lake District.. and I’m going today!! ♥

Just two weeks ago I found out that I won an amazing competition with Go Lakes travel. The prize is an all expenses paid 3 night trip to the Lake District! I have never been before, so I’m very excited! I booked the first possible date for myself and my boyfriend Liam, so we’re leaving today!

The competition is part of the ‘Drive Less, See More’ campaign, and Go Lakes were searching for a family and a couple willing to take on the challenge of a car-free adventure in the Lake District. Of course, I was very willing, as Liam has been to the Lakes before and had told me how amazing it is! He did Adventure Tourism at university so I feel safe knowing that he will at least know his way around the hills and can do proper map reading! I’m not such an adventurous person myself, but I am thrilled to have won such an amazing prize!

We’re looking forward to walking the hills, taking in the views,
and visiting historic properties. I have also been told that I must try
some mint cake! We are also planning to visit some small villages and
towns to lunch at pubs serving local food, and visiting quaint shops.
I’m really looking forward to visiting Wray Castle, which looks like an
ideal location for some photos!

The trip includes:

• A 3-night break at the 4 star Waterhead Hotel located on the lake shore at Ambleside, on a dinner, bed and breakfast
basis.

• Entry to three attractions
• Tickets for unlimited travel on Stagecoach buses
• A trip on Windermere Lake Cruises
• Free electric bike hire on one day
• A goodie bag to take away courtesy of The Grasmere Gingerbread Shop.

• A Kodak digital video camera

Amazing or what! Go Lakes Travel have been very helpful in organising the trip, and they have even drawn us up an itinerary and pre-booked our attraction tickets. To win, I had to say in 300 words, why I wanted to explore the Lakes without a car. I can’t remember exactly what I said, but as I have received my Tourism degree from uni, I am really interested in all things travel and transportation and this is a great experience.

The hotel looks amazing, their food menu looks scrumptious, and our itinerary looks exciting! It’s a 4 hour journey from my house to Ambleside, but I have a new eco car (I will show you it soon!) which I’m sure will make the journey! I better have some car seat protectors (check here) on to make sure I don’t get my new seats mucky! I’m so excited! I’m planning on taking some fashion outfit of the day posts, but don’t expect them to be too glam.. as I will be head to toe in outdoor waterproof gear! ‘Drive Less, See More’ campaign, I have agreed to tweet, Facebook, and blog about my experiences in the Lakes!
