I was recently contacted by the lovely people at John Lewis, and they asked if I would like to be involved in their Autumn feature. I jumped at the chance when they said that the objective was to create a killer 50’s silhouette to accentuate curves! I was offered a dress of my choice, and also a piece from their shapewear range.
John Lewis stock lots of great brands such as Warehouse, Oasis, Mango, and FCUK. They also have a huge range of dresses, from 76 different brands. I chose this dark purple Oasis lace shirt dress, as I thought the flared skirt could help to create curves. This sleeveless lace dress has a concealed button down front and comes complete with a belt at the waist. It looks really lovely on, and the material is quite thick, perfect for autumn. I don’t own any lace dresses, so I picked this dress because I wanted to try something new. The colour is also gorgeous for this season, in a berry dark purple shade. Overall it’s a really gorgeous dress, and would be perfect for a Christmas party!
I was also sent a Flexees Easy Up Firm Control Waist Nipper from their shapewear range. You can wear the waist cincher under your outfit to help create the perfect waistline. It features a waist cinching stretch tube design and control panels with a high shine finish. It isn’t as unattractive as spanx or high waisted control pants! And the fit is really flattering, I think I might even say I look slim in these photos! It gave me a nice figure, as it pushed my fleshy bits up or down so that my waist looked much smaller. I also found it to be more comfortable than I was expecting, as there is no hard boning, just elastic panels. It can be a little but tricky to get on and off, but it’s well worth it, and it made me feel more confident in my shape.
What do you think? Can I pull of a killer 50’s silhouette with the aid of shapewear?
The gorgeous Oasis dress retails for £55, and waist nipper £23 from John Lewis.
