Vintage Era Lingerie Styling with M&S ♥

I was recently asked to participate in a fun project by Marks & Spencers; their vintage era lingerie styling project. They selected me as a blogger (yipee!) and the idea was to pick a lingerie set that would provide the perfect basis for creating a vintage silhouette. I tried to base my look on the 40’s/50’s era, with a small waistline and flared skirt.

To sculpt my silhouette, I wore the stunning M&S lingerie pieces I’d chosen, which included a longline retro bra and stockings. I picked the Limited Collection Floral Lace Longline Bra because I’ve found in the past that extra clasps at the back of bras are more comfortable for me, and it creates less ‘bra bulge’ against my back fat. I also just love the prettiness of the bra, and it has a super low cut plunge which actually gives me cleavage (which is surprising, I’m practically an A cup) and it has a little bit of padding too. The matching Brazilian panties are beautiful too! 

To give myself a better shape with curves in all the right places I also wore the Firm Control Panelled Selvedge Waist Cincher (now out of stock) shapewear. I picked this because it was seamless which means no VPL! It also has a high waist, so it doesn’t roll underneath your tummy, it goes all the way up to your chest! It gives a super shape around the bum, and holds in any wobbly side bits. 

To finish off the look, I wore 40 Denier Body Sensor Opaque Hold-Ups. I don’t know why, but I’ve always wanted a pair of hold ups with a stripey top, they seem much more stylish and contemporary than lace. I wore the lingerie set with and Oasis floral dress I got in the Christmas sale last year. I’ve never had an opportunity to wear it, but I think the lingerie set works perfectly with the dress to nip me in at the waist, flatten my tum, and give my cleavage a boost.
