I thought I’d break up all of the Christmassy blog posts with a new outfit post. I still have lots more Christmas themed posts to come though! As I mentioned in my last blog post, Liam and I have both got each other a Barbour jacket for Christmas. I received mine early because he’s away in Kenya for Christmas and is not home until New Years Eve, so I’ve been able to wear my jacket early!
We’ve both always wanted the traditional waxed jackets and when we were at university together we’d often try them on in Selfridges and wish that our student budgets would stretch that far. And now that we’re ‘grown ups’ (kinda) we decided to treat each other this year in preparation for lots of trips around the UK in 2015. We’ve got a country cottage booked for when he’s home in January, and I cannot wait! The weather will no doubt be chilly so I’m looking forward to getting more wear out of my new jacket.
I picked the iconic Barbour Beadnell Waxed Jacket in the olive green colour, and I love the tartan lining inside and on the cuffs. It also has a corduroy collar, two large front flap pockets, two waist-height hand warmer pockets and a zipped inner pocket. It’s great for keeping warm and dry, and I love the style of it too. To give it an extra feminine edge I’ve been wearing the jacket with my fur collar from Select, which is perfect for wearing instead of a scarf, and so warm!
In this outfit I’m also wearing my navy blue bear print dress from Sugarhill Boutique. It’s got a folky style to it and I love the square cut neckline which is really flattering and pretty unique. I love the folk art inspired design featuring the cute little bear and woodland scene. It’s such a pretty dress and I absolutely love it! I think it’s a really nice print to wear for the winter season, and I like that the sleeves are longer length to keep me a bit warmer.
The boots are by Toms, a brand which I had heard of but I wasn’t aware that they did boots and proper shoes. I’d always known them for doing those smelly little canvas shoes! Btu they also do a really lovely range of footwear, and these are their desert wedge boots in black suede. They’re quite high for me, but as they have a wedged heel they’re surprisingly comfortable and easy to walk in (I’m not much of a heels wearer). They boots also have a wool plaid lining which is very warm, and they’re embroidered with the Toms logo at the back.
