In continuation to my last blog post I have another little gift guide suitable for Valentines Day, anniversaries etc. Me and Liam have booked a weekend away in Oxford for Valentines, which I’m pretty excited for! It’s nice to get away sometimes and spend time together somewhere new, and I’m looking forward to exploring the city and spoiling ourselves with some romantic meals out. Does anyone happen to have any tips on where to visit/eat in the city centre?
So here’s some inspiration if you’re stuck for ideas this February 14th…
I thought I’d show you this one first.. because who doesn’t love cake?! But this isn’t any ordinary cake, this is a custom made cake from Patisserie Valerie which I designed myself using their Create a Cake online tool.
The tool allows you to choose each aspect of the cake yourself, which is great fun! I enjoyed looking through the options, and eventually (after much deliberation) I decided on a vanilla sponge cake, filled with Chantilly fresh cream and strawberries. The sides of the cake were decorated with white chocolate curls and I picked dark chocolate profiteroles as the topping. They were the best bit… so yummy!
This cake serves 6 portions, however I think it could probably serve more than that as the slices would be quite large between 6! There are plenty of sizes to chose from, feeding up to 125 people – which would make it an ideal wedding or party cake. Once you’ve picked your cake and the size, you can order it online and pick your date and store to collect from.
The final total for this cake was only £25, which I think is very reasonable considering the work that’s gone into the custom design. I’m sure it would make a lovely Valentine gift for anyone with a bit of a sweet tooth!
If you’re after something sweet but maybe less extravagant, something like this personalised love letter biscuit would be ideal! Biscuiteers do a range of Valentines biscuits which come beautifully wrapped and gift boxed.
This edible love letter can be personalised with a message which will be neatly iced onto the vanilla biscuit and can then be presented to your loved one. It’s really easy to order online and then get your Valentine’s biscuits through the post!
Why not surprise your Valentine with a massage this weekend? This award winning rose massage and body oil by Aromatherapy Associates contains rose, evening primrose oil and shea butter. The ingredients work to leave skin deeply nourished, soft, hydrated and silky smooth. The body oil has a gentle floral scent of rose, geranium and camomile, and would make a lovely sensual Valentines gift.
If you want to buy something a bit quirky for your other half, Ohh Deer do a great range of illustrated gifts and homewares. This Life is A Great Adventure cushion was made in the UK from super soft faux suede and comes complete with the plump cushion filling. I think Liam will love this gift, as he’s a bit of an adventurer! They also do a fab T-shirt and greetings card in the same design.
Valentines is the perfect time to spice up your underwear drawer, and I’ve always been a fan of M&S undies! This black lacey lingerie set comes with a padded longline bra and Brazilian style knickers and is from the M&S Limited Collection. The bra is £14 and the briefs are £6, however when I bought them they were running a 20% off offer!
If you’re planning a special Valentines Day meal at home this weekend, you could pick up some heart shaped dinnerware to celebrate the occasion. I bought a set of heart bowls from Wilko, and I notice they do a few other products such as plates, place mats, and dip bowls to match. I use this small heart bowl to store sweeties!
If you’re still on the lookout for the perfect Valentines Day card, check out these unique designs from Made With Love. They are an online boutique and design studio in the UK making personalised greetings cards with a modern twist.
This tattoo inspired love heart design card has been personalised with our initials, and has been printed onto luxury white pearlescent card. I also love the handmade vintage style Dapper Chap card which has been printed onto brown ribbed card. Check out their range of Valentines designs which includes cards with chocolate lollipops and pretty necklaces!
And finally, this iPad case is probably one of my favourite gift ideas. The case has an anchor print design by Joules, but this one from Proporta is extra special, as they can now personalise your gadget cases! They can engrave your name, initials or favourite quote onto selected items, which is a lovely touch.
I love the nautical design on this case, and I wanted to have something related engraved onto it, so I decided on my favourite lyric by Mayday Parade. I got to chose the font that was used for the engraving, and it was all done quickly and it looks very professionally done. I think a personalised gadget case would be a wonderful gift for any tech lover!
