Writing My Spring Style Story: The Romantic

I love the start of spring – it feels like the opening page of a new book. With lighter days arriving and World Book Day this month, it felt like a good moment to bring together two things I love: fashion and reading.

My personal style has always felt romantic, with soft silhouettes, delicate prints and feminine details firm favourites of mine. I think a lot of that is influenced by the kinds of books I love reading, especially romantic stories with dreamy, timeless settings and characters whose style feels soft, elegant and feminine. I’m always drawn to clothes and accessories that give me that same feeling, especially in spring when pretty floral dresses start to come back into regular rotation.

Ad disclosure: These items were gifted, but this post reflects my honest opinions, as always.

The Dress: A Springtime Main Character Moment

The starting point for this spring look is the Nobody’s Child Lillie Mini Dress. The floral print feels fresh for spring, while the silhouette is flattering and feminine. I also love the long sleeves, which make it especially practical for spring when the weather can still feel a little cooler.

The sweetheart neckline and bow accent give it a subtle vintage feel, but the shape still feels modern and easy enough to wear with tights and boots for day-to-day. It’s the kind of dress that works just as well for a casual coffee, an afternoon spent reading, or a weekend browse around the shops.

The Boots: A Little Drama for Everyday Adventures

To contrast the softness of the dress, I paired it with the Very Collection Wide Fit Over The Knee Boots in brown.

The longer boot adds structure and makes the outfit feel more styled. It also gives the mini length a bit more balance, and the faux suede finish works particularly well with florals and softer neutrals, adding warmth without feeling too heavy for spring.

I also love the low block heel, which makes them much more practical for everyday wear without losing that dressed-up feel.

The Bag: A Classic Finishing Touch

For accessories, I added the New Look Mini Faux Leather Turn Lock Crossbody Bag.

A shoulder bag is always a useful finishing piece, especially with a spring dress. This one keeps the look stylish and put together, while the gold turn-lock detail adds a classic element. The deep brown shade ties in well with the boots, which helps make the whole outfit look co-ordinated. It’s also practical enough for everyday use, with room for the essentials, including my Kindle for reading on the go.

My Constant Companion: The Kindle

My Kindle has become an everyday essential. It lives in my handbag and comes with me almost everywhere. Whether I’m sitting in a café, waiting for a friend, or passing time on the train, I love knowing I always have something to read without needing to carry around a heavier book.

I also like how seamlessly it fits into everyday moments. If I arrive early somewhere or simply want a break from scrolling on my phone, it gives me an easy way to switch off and enjoy a bit of reading. It’s slim, lightweight and easy to slip into a small handbag, which makes it perfect for carrying around without adding bulk.

For me, this look sums up everything I love about spring style: soft florals, practical accessories and those small everyday details, like having a good book in my bag, that make an outfit feel even more personal.
