DIY Ikea Chair.. ♥

I went on a little trip to Ikea last week to pick out some new furniture for my bedroom. I needed a new desk and drawers. But then when I was in the ‘bargain corner’ of Ikea where all the cheap display pieces are, I saw this gorgeous wooden chair. The chair is untreated, so it is ready to paint! It was reduced from £16 to £9 I think. I had some ideas of how I wanted it to be, so here it is.

I then painted it white.

After I painted the chair white, I coated the two bars on the chair with PVA glue.

I then covered the bars with some floral napkin tissue paper to give a decoupaged effect. I layered it a couple of times so that it wasn’t perfect, and I also tore the bits of tissue.

And this is the final result 🙂 Overall I am very happy with how it has turned out. The paint has a rustic look to it, and the tissue paper also gives a worn vintage feel to it as it is a bit crinkled. I think it fits in very well with my new white furniture too. And it suits my bedroom much better than my old big wheeled office chair! And my £1 carboot sale cushion looks perfect on it.
