Happy Sunday everyone! I have a busy week ahead with cake orders before Valentines Day, but today I wanted to give you a brief view of how I store all my stuff! Like most girls, especially bloggers, I have lots of piles of ‘things’ – mostly consisting of beauty products and clothes. I haven’t got a very big bedroom so I try to make the most of the space that I do have. I’m quite fortunate that I have a mirrored wardrobe across an entire length of my room which means I can hide lots of things behind the mirrors! I haven’t got a huge collection of things though, my beauty stuff is especially modest. So starting with my beauty products…
I have some shelving in my wardrobe which I use as my little ‘beauty corner’. Below the bottom shelf are 3 pretty A4 file boxes, the bottom shelf is used for my most often reached for products, the middle shelf is for perfume mainly, aswell as a box of overflow products. On the top shelf is my collection of mini travel products and Chanel giftbag which is full of mini perfume vials and a few more bits.
So this is what’s inside the file boxes. One is for make up, one is for nail polishes, and the other is for boring things like paracetemol, plasters etc. I don’t actually have a huge collection of make up! I’m forever trying new products and rarely stick to one thing. My Mum loves the fact that she gets all my rejected items as she never has to buy herself any make up! So I like to keep my make up collection streamlined as I don’t see the point in having so many products that I don’t get round to using them all!
My nail polish box started off very small but since growing my nails about 6 months ago I’ve become a bit addicted to collecting all things nails! The box is getting a little bit full now so I might have to start thinking about a new storage solution. I love Essie, Revlon, and Barry M! I know this collection is nothing compared to some of you lot, I’m envious!
So this is the bottom shelf. Along the left are the hair products I use most often, then at the back are body products and self tan. The big pink stripey box is my Soap and Glory hat box and it is full to the brim with S&G goodness! There’s a mini hatbox on top of that rammed full of their minis too. The little glass bonbon dish holds my tubey shaped things that I use often such as eye creams and rollers. The little giftbag in the right hand corner hold onto my nose pore strips and other little diddy bits. The pretty floral box in the middle contains all of my ‘to try’ cosmetics that I still need to test and perhaps review on my blog. I keep them in here seperate from my other cosmetics otherwise I might end up forgetting about them.. oops!
So this is my middle shelf. The big floral washbag is full of shampoos and conditioners, and the floral blue box has boxes of hair dye in. I like to stock up on my favourite products when they’re on special offer so that’s why I have so much ‘overstock’! Then at the bottom of the shelf is my lovely collection of perfumes, all of which I love! It’s hard to pick a favourite, but my most used is probably Jimmy Choo , Ghost, and Nina Ricci. That wooden jewellery box at the back isn’t really used, but it has some of my old ‘proper’ jewellery in it.
This is what is in that big round box, nothing very exciting! This box is my ‘easy reach’ box that’s full of daily products such as face wipes, razors, deodorant etc. It’s easy for me to get to when I run out of something so I keep it somewhere handy! Those Wilko facewipes are my favourites by the way.. they’re only 50p too!
These minis are what I take with me when I go away for a short trip. I find them all essentials so I like to take them with me, but their mini sizes makes it handy to just pop in my bag without taking up too much space and weight. I find buying minis can be expensive though, so I try to just buy the bottle once and then just refill it with my normal sized products.
Okay, the next part of my wardrobe is my clothes section, which has a top shelf, and on there is these two boxes!
In the first (smaller) box is all of my skincare products. This is mainly a collection of products that I’ve won in competitions. I’ve not had to buy any skincare for years! So this is where I keep all of my skin and body care items, although I rarely use them after trying them a few times.
Then in the larger box, which is pretty huge, is all of my haircare products. I have soooo much hair stuff! Again, almost everything here I won in competitions and so they get stored here until I need something specific. I’ve found some amazing products through comp wins, but until I run out of stuff, I won’t be purchasing anything for a long time!
Next to the boxes on the top shelf is all of my handbags, purses, and washbags. I don’t really have many everyday bags, most of these are all bags for travelling/nights out/holidays. I usually take one of those canvas shopper bags with me everywhere and then just use my same handbag everyday! I use boring pink laundry baskets to store these in. The edge of this shelf is painted a rather fetching shade of fuschia pink with poster paint as I used to love DIY even as a pre teen.
Next up.. my clothes! This is all of my dresses, skirts, shorts, and jumpers. My tops and tshirts are kept in my chest of drawers. I love all of my clothes but I always feel like I have nothing to wear everyday! I try and keep my wardrobe coordinated, so on the far left is summer skirts, leading to winter skirts. And then it’s strappy summer dresses, day dresses, evening dresses, then jumpers. That ugly white laundry bag thing is full of casual stuff like tshirts and old stuff I never wear. The 3 drawer chest has all my stationary and random bits in. The white mini chest has all my belts in the drawer, and the pink boxes contain all my tights and winter socks!
My jewellery is all stored here on my chest of drawers, draped over jewellery stands and my vintage mirror which I picked up for £2 from a carboot sale. It’s brass but I painted it white and I love it! The fairy cakes sign was a gift from one of my blog readers in Romania 🙂 The birdcage was £3 from Wilko, and the other stands etc are just bits I picked up from all over.
In this pretty box that I picked up from a charity shop for £1 I keep all of my mini samples and sachets. Keeping free samples from magazines or that you receive in the post are great to keep to take away with you on holiday!
I also use a pretty floral box to store my false eyelashes in, even though I don’t wear them too often!
So there you have it! A closer look at my bedroom and how I store some of my things!
So you have any storage top tips, or ways to keep all your things organised?
