New Bedroom Pieces – Ikea & DIY ♥

This blog post is part of the MoneySupermarket Room For Improvement Challenge! Participants were given £50 to spend on improving one room in their household. I really wanted to improve our spare bedroom which is soon to become my dressing room (hopefully) but I didn’t have the time to redo it totally (you’ll see why in a blog post later this week!). So I decided to add some improvements to my bedroom which has been needing some readjustments for a while. So here’s what I bought during the challenge…
I bought this gorgeous new floral duvet cover
for only £13 from Amazon. That’s such a great price for a double duvet, and includes free delivery too! It’s reversible, and has the floral pattern on one side and then polka dots on the back.
Next up, I bought this great little high pile rug for only £4.99 from Ikea! It’s called the Hampen and it comes in other colours, and it’s currently half price in store only. I’ve been looking for a rug for a while, because when I do my outfit posts in my bedroom and I’m wearing dark clothing, you can’t even see it against the dark carpet! It’s super soft too and I think it’s great value for the price!
I also got these two really pretty boxes from Ikea. They’re surprisingly sturdy and are covered in such a gorgeous floral fabric. They were only £3.50 each and I’m thinking of making space for them in my wardrobe for all my tights! They’re a great little storage solution, and nice enough to be on show.
I also picked up a few nik-naks from Ikea, including these cute little scented candles and artificial flowers. The pink candles came in a set of three and have floral printed holders and were only £3.25 for the set! And the flowers were only 99p each and I have 3 different ones. They brighten up my windowsill!

I’ve needed some new curtains for ages because my previous ones I made from an old duvet cover! They were still useable, but I wasn’t a fan of the patchwork pattern anymore. Decent curtains are SO expensive so when I found this pretty pink floral set in my window size for only £12 in Dunelm I bought them! I’ve kept the old ones up also to use as a lining because the new ones didn’t quite darken my room enough.
Okay these glasses are just too cute that they don’t even need an explanation as to why I bought them. I just needed them. I bought two of each as they were only about 69p each from Ikea!!
I bought this little pretty white pot, which I think is actually a plant pot, to store my make up brushes in. It was only about £2 from Ikea and thought it was really cute! And it’s perfect for keeping brushes etc in.
And these are my little DIY projects! They literally took about twenty minutes each, if that. No sewing is required! I bought this big plain white cushion (centre) from Ikea for only £3, and I decorated it with ‘LOVE’ using Cath Kidston fabric swatches. I will do a tutorial on this soon 🙂 But I’m really pleased with it!
Secondly, I also used some Cath Kidston oilcloth swatches to make this cute bunting! Again, no sewing was used and it was so simple to do. I will post a tutorial for this too! This didn’t cost me a penny to make as I used fabric watches I had already, and then just some string!

So that’s everything for my Room For Improvement Challenge! I hope you like my new buys and DIYs 🙂
