It’s finished! My new Dressing Room.. β™₯

So you’ve probably seen most of the room already as it’s been in my recent OOTD shots, but now it’s finally finished and I can show you it all! So here it is, after about 6 weeks of hard work from Dad (and me!) we’ve finally finished it! Everything in the room is brand new, so I’ll let you know where it’s all from under each photo πŸ™‚
As you probably remember, I won a Β£1000 Laura Ashley voucher, and so far I’ve only spent about Β£100 of it! So I’ve still got quite a bit to spend. What I bought was the amazing wallpaper, which was on sale for only Β£15 a roll when I bought it! Luckily I only needed two rolls, but it’s Β£38 now! I also bought some accessories, and a really nice silk lampshade in duck egg blue. The overall theme of the room was designed to be duck egg blue and white, with ‘bird’ accents.
The main feature of the room however, is the gorgeous French style dressing table which I was sent by Out There Interiors. It’s literally the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen, and I couldn’t have found a more perfect dressing table anywhere else. It’s got a massive mirror, and really pretty carved detail all over, and a nice big drawer to store my bits. It really makes the room a ‘dressing room’ and not just a spare bedroom. Also how perfect does my mannequin look in here?

I love little accessories, so I’ve bought quite a few new little pieces to make the room more homely. Some might call it clutter, but I like having pretty little odds and ends around! On the little chest of drawers I put three adorable little ceramic birds that actually light up! These were from Laura Ashley, and were a bargain at only Β£10 in the sale (now gone up to Β£25!).

To keep along with the bird theme, on the wall is the most beautiful clock that I was sent from Sylvester Oxford.
I think it looks perfect in the room next to the bird print wallpaper,
and it’s nice and big, and has a distressed shabby chic look about it.
It’s also really reasonably priced at Β£16, and I love the little bird perched on the top of the cage.

I was sent a couple of really cute pieces from Home33Accessories too, including this really pretty shabby chic picture frame. I thought the pastel duck egg blue colour suited perfectly, and I like the distressed effect of it too. I put a photo of a bird cage inside it! Also the set of three glass heart shaped tea light holders on the dressing table are really cute, brings a little bit of romance to the room! Check out the Home33Accessories website, they have lots of nice items and 10% off your first order too!
The ‘When life gets you down; bake a cake sign’ was a gift from my friend and I can’t find it online anywhere, sorry!

Another furniture make over, this chair used to be a disgusting shade of dirty, dark brown. This is my Mum’s antique Welsh wooden chair and I’ve always hated it. As a kid I always had to sit on it when we didn’t have any spare chairs at the dinner table, and it was always so ugly and uncomfortable! We were going to throw it out, but Dad asked me if I wanted to give it a make over. I did try to paint it with a paintbrush, but it was too much hard work! All those annoying little bars at the back I just couldn’t reach, so I told him to burn it on the fire! But he actually spray painted it in the garden with his airbrush gun, and now I love it! The paint set perfectly, and accessorised with my cupcake cushion from Dunelm, it looks lovely πŸ™‚
The curtains by the way I’ve no idea where they are from. When we did our carboot sale the other week I found them new in their packets in our stuff to sell, so I rescued them! Mum and I can’t remember where we got them from, nor why we didn’t want to keep them, so that was a stroke of luck! Free curtains! They match perfectly πŸ™‚ I bought a cream curtain rail from B&M for Β£7, and matching tie back hooks from Laura Ashley.

I’ve already posted on the pine wooden furniture that I redecorated, which I think matches in perfectly with the fresh look of the room. I also recycled the long length mirror, which was Β£2 at a carboot sale, and it was made of dark wood which I painted white to give it a new life. I’ve filled the wardrobe with my dresses and winter coats, and boxes of shoes!

And finally, you may notice the lovely new flooring! Well, surprisingly, the floor came from Poundland! I think we used 12 packs of 4 tiles, so it only cost Β£12 for a whole new floor! My Dad’s really handy so he did an awesome job of cutting and fitting the tiles down, it looks like laminate flooring! Also, check out the lush shaggy duck egg blue rug I was sent from Argos. This is a bargain at only Β£17 and it’s huge! It’s really lovely and fluffy too, I love it! It matches the wallpaper perfectly and fills the empty space in the middle of the room.
Phew.. I think that’s enough photos for now! I hope you enjoyed this post and found it mildly inspiring πŸ™‚ Let me know what you think!

Well done! I can't believe that you have been so restrained with the gift card though. But I do like that most things are repurposed and upcycled

Beautiful! I love the fact you have a designer inspired room but sourced most of the items cheaply! I have similar pound shop tiles in my kitchen and they look great, everyone's really surprised when I tell them my floor only cost me Β£17!

You did a great job! (…& Dad of course!)

I love it, love it, love it! I used to have a kind of dressing room (aka the small spare bedroom) until we filled it with a desk, large tv, computer and various other bits of 'stuff' and I really miss it. Might just have to work on transforming it back into a room for me, me, it's all about me!

p.s. you have such lovely taste πŸ™‚
