Sometimes when you’re feeling a little bit down, or the dread of winter leaves you feeling blue, you need a little pick me up. There are loads of little things that cheer me up instantly; a new lipstick, a cuddle with my cat, a catch up with a girlfriend, and I think it’s important to make the most of these little things.

One of the big things that makes me a little bit chirpier in the mornings is the feeling of wearing something new. Whether it be a new dress or a new pair of shoes, wearing something fresh makes me feel good. This is especially true when it comes to underwear, as I love wearing pretty sets that secretly boost my confidence and make me feel good.

This stunning black lacy set is the Dentelle contour bra by Elle Macpherson, from Bras and Honey. I love the pretty delicate lace and the dainty satin bows, and the black and grey tones are sophisticated and also easy to wear. Sometimes after a long day, all you want to do is just relax. I find the best way to do this is to run a nice hot bath, and then use some bathtime treats and spend a little while with my thoughts (and some music) in the tub.

The Soap and Glory range is my favourite, and I love using their bubble bath, exfoliator scrub, and shower cream in the bath. Once I’ve had a nice long soak, I then use various other S&G lotions and potions, such as their body butter to full on pamper myself, and then I relax for the evening in my fluffy dressing gown or some fresh PJ’s. Bliss!

Receiving flowers is one of my favourite things ever! Although this is a rarity these days, so I often end up buying them for myself to brighten up my bedroom. You really can’t beat a fresh bunch of flowers in the summer time. 

This summer rose bouquet was kindly sent to me by Debenhams a little while ago, and the flowers are absolutely stunning. An instant pick me up! It’s pretty impressive that you can order flowers by post these days, so why not treat someone special?

Unlike a lot of beauty bloggers, I’m not a huge skincare fanatic. To be honest, I rarely even make any attempt to maintain my skin, as I simply use a Nivea face wipe to remove my make up every evening!

I’m lucky to have quite clear combination skin natually, but if I’m feeling in need of a bit of a skin boost, then these La Roche Posay and Vichy products are my favourites to use. I probably use these only about once a week, and I have to admit it does make my skin feel good after giving myself a little at home facial.

Wine

I’m not an alcoholic or anything, but I certainly do enjoy a social tipple now and again. Making cocktails (or mocktails!) in summer is a great way to enjoy the sunshine (if it ever comes back) and have some fun.

There are some great recipes online, and I especially like the sound of this white wine berry sangria, or this version with strawberry and lemons! They sound so easy to make, and lovely and refreshing. You can easily pick up a dry white wine and some fruit from Tesco; simple, and a great shout for warm summer evenings! *
