Autumn Walks with Joules ♥

This blog post is going to be shorter than I had anticipated as it appears hardly any of the photos I took came out properly. Isn’t it annoying when that happens? Every bloggers worst nightmare; so much time wasted on standing posing like a lemon and shouting at your Dad to take another photo at a different angle!
Anyway, I recently enjoyed a lovely family day out in Oxfordshire with my parents, Auntie, Uncle, and cousins. We went for a little walk along The Ridgeway to English Heritage site Wayland’s Smithy. You won’t catch me wearing proper walking attire and as we were going for a pub lunch afterwards I opted for a casual outfit of a floral day dress, ditsy Barbour wellies and my new Winchester Joules jacket.

The day started off pretty chilly but bright and sunny with a forecast of showers (aka typical unpredictable British weather) so I decided this would be the perfect raincoat to wear to cover all possibilities. It’s lightweight but 100% waterproof (with a hood too), although luckily it didn’t rain in the end!

The jacket is actually 3-in-1 as it comes with a little quilted jacket which attaches to the inside of the coat securely to give an extra layer of warmth. The inner jacket has a super soft furry fleece lining which will be perfect to wear with the coat when the winter weather kicks in soon.

The Winchester is such a versatile and practical coat; I’ve been wearing it non stop for these mild but wet days, and being able to attach the inner jacket was ideal for watching the fireworks. And I love the big roomy pockets and adjustable waistband.. functional yet stylish! It comes in Marine Navy and Dark Pine and I decided to go with the navy as I felt it would probably go with more of my outfits. I do like the colour a lot as it goes with practically any outfit and I especially love that it matches my floral wellies!

After we had our family walk we went to a local pub for a traditional Sunday roast. I love doing nice family things like that on a weekend! We all had a lovely catch up and it was so nice to see everyone and spend time together as we don’t get to see each other very often.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Your first paragraph made me chuckle. It is awful when you're snapping away and then the cameras results aren't what you hoped for.

Anyhow, I also enjoy getting out and walking, but just like you, I opt for a nice outfit with wellies.

  3. It is so annoying when you can't write posts as you planned them because you lose photos! But don't worry, the photos you do have are great! 🙂 Your jacket looks super comfy, and I love your wellies, the pattern is too cute!

  5. Joules does such beautiful pieces, I have a few quilted jackets from there. I was actually thinking of purchasing the Winchester jacket a while back but I was worried it might be a bit long for me.
