Bedroom Additions ♥

I’m forever adding new things to my bedroom to make it more cosy for me and kitty, and recently I gained two new additions. I’ve never had a ‘proper’ set of curtains up in my room before as I could never find any that fit my colour scheme. So I had actually sewed a double bed sheet into curtains which I had up for over 5 years! They weren’t too bad to be honest, but as they were quite thin they let a lot of light in as they weren’t lined.

So ta da! Now I have a stunning new set of ‘proper’ curtains from Direct Blinds. I absolutely love the floral pattern and the pretty blue background caught my eye immediately. The curtained were fully made to measure and I chose mine with a triple pinch pleat heading. The fact that they are made to measure means that they are the perfect fit and all I had to do was give my pole measurements. You also get to chose the type of heading and lining you’d like.
They made from 100% cotton, and I chose to have a heavyweight luxury light filtering lining. The lining makes it much better than what I had before, as it blocks out the excess light shining in from the sun and street lights, so I get a much more comfortable nights sleep.

The second new addition to my bedroom also helps to ensure an excellent nights sleep.. I have a new mattress! As I have an Ikea bed frame it can be tricky to find the right European sized mattress, but I was given this one to try from Mattress Next Day.
It is the luxury Dreamland Pocket Contrast 1000 mattress which has a deluxe damask cover and over 1000 individually pocketed springs, which offer a high level of support. It’s taken a bit of getting used to as it’s quite firm and previously I had an extremely thin foam mattress that wasn’t doing my back any good (my masseuse always comments that my back is extremely knotty!).

But it’s now become my new little bed of heaven and my back feels better already! The only issue is that because it’s so deep my bed sheets can ping off the corners in the night, which is a bit irritating but I think I can live with it. Now my bedroom is such a nice relaxing environment which would be made even more perfect by the addition of some luxury bedding from Julian Charles!

Wow you have such an adorable bedroom and the curtains definitely fit the theme! I love my mattress and it's super soft, so I don't think it does my back any good I just can't bring myself to get a firm one.

I love your curtains! They are so pretty! The mattress sounds great too. I also have a thick mattress on my bed, and had the same issue with bed sheets until I discovered that you can get deep fitting sheets (extra long corners) which means no more pinging in the middle of the night. 🙂
