. Here’s my review of our amazing Cuban meal at cocktail bar and restaurant Revolucion De Cuba
in Milton Keynes. We’d been once before and we can always count on it for a fun evening with a great atmosphere. We went on a Wednesday which is their Salsa night and there was an amazing group of dancers in the middle of the restaurant dancing the night away!
Revolucion De Cuba
I always like the atmosphere at Revolucion De Cuba because it’s a lively bar as well as a sit-down restaurant, there’s always music playing and there’s always helpful friendly staff on hand. We sat down at our table and was shown the menu along with the wide range of drinks and cocktails available. We decided to try the mocktails as we were driving, and I enjoyed the Apple and Raspberry Mojito which was a refreshing mix of fresh fruit and mint served on crushed ice.
My favourite thing about eating at Revolucion De Cuba is the starters! They have a tapas menu featuring some of my most favourite things and I always love trying out new thing as well as old favourites. We opted to have three starters between us and we chose the chicken quesadilla, patatas bravas and Cajun cream mushrooms.
The quesadillas were crispy torillas filled with chicken, cheese,
onions, peppers and salsa, and we had two of these each. The patatas
bravas are a Spanish favourite; fried potatos topped with spicy tomato
and garlic sauce.. yum! But my absolute favourite has to be the
mushrooms, which are sautéed garlic mushrooms in a rich Cajun cream
sauce topped with kale and are so SO morish! Three of the little tapas
dishes between the two of us worked out well as a starter but I was also
really looking forward to our main course.
I can never resist a good steak so I picked the 8oz Aberdeen Angus sirloin which was served with sweet potato fries and a creamy peppercorn sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed this, the steak was bigger than I had imagined and the fries were cooked perfectly! Hazel decided to go with the big plate of paella which was rice topped with chicken, prawns and chorizo. It looked delicious!
Finally, we decided to share a dessert as we were very full up towards the end of the evening! I don’t think we could have managed a pudding each. We chose to share a churro cheesecake which was not actually a cheesecake at all. Instead it was layers of Spanish doughnut sticks along with fresh strawberries, cream and a rum and caramel sauce. This was perhaps a bit too sickly for me after all the food I had already consumed, but it was deliciously sweet!
Outfit of the Night
As the weather was still lovely and sunny in the evening when we went for dinner, I decided to wear my new dress from Rock My Vintage. This cute little navy blue daisy dress is designed by fashion brand Little White Lies.
The little flowers are embellished using tiny white and yellow sequins which reminds me of Marc Jacobs ‘Daisy’. I like the cute casual style with a skirt flared from the waist and soft t-shirt sleeves. The dress also has a slash cut out back too which makes it ideal to wear on summer evenings out. I wore the dress along with a tan Nica grab bag, some tan coloured summer strappy wedges and Ted Baker sunglasses.
