Spring Cleaning with Very.co.uk

Spring is officially on its way, which means it’s the perfect time to de-clutter and reogranise your home! Every spring I feel re-energised and ready to refresh the house a bit, so it’s great opportunity to clear some space and have a little spring clean.

It can be easy to fall into bad routines and end up with clutter filling up the house or an untidy home. I am guilty of buying things I don’t really need and am also known to hoard lots of clothes! So this spring I’m having a clear out and making the most of the space we have by reoganising my home, with a little help from Very.co.uk

Have a Closet Clearout

This is a big one for me! I’ve got a lot of clothes that I just don’t wear anymore so I’ve recently been having a big clearout of my wardrobe. As most of the stuff is still in really good condition, I’ve decided to try and make a bit of money back by reselling it all online. Vinted is great for this as it’s so simple to use and it’s free to list!

I’ve actually made quite a lot back by selling my clothes on so it’s definitely worth it – I’m using the money to put towards our next holiday!  I’ve been using these big 60 litre plastic storage boxes to keep all my ‘for sale’ bits in so that they stay nice and neat.

They’re great as they’re nice and deep so  you can fit plenty in them, and they’re stackable too. I also have a few of these boxes up in the loft to keep all the Christmas decorations in, and use some underbed storage boxes to keep shoes in too. They’re a great way to maximise storage space.

Create a Laundry Room

We’re lucky to have a little utility room where we keep our washing machine, but it was looking a little bit drab. I thought I’d give it a little bit of a mini makeover on a budget to make it into a more practical (and pretty) ‘laundry room’!

I used some self-adhesive tiles along the back wall and wrapped the old worktop in wood-effect sticky back plastic to give it a more luxurious look. The cupboard on the left-hand side was a £10 Facebook Marketplace bargain that I painted white and then wedged beneath the worktop to make it look like a built-in cabinet.

We also have the plastic storage drawer tower, plus a nifty little space saving, pull-out storage rack where we keep our detergents. I feel like we’ve made full use of the space we have in here and it feels much more organised now!

To accessorise, I’ve added a little artificial potted plant, a shelf with some patterned storage jars on, a framed print on the wall, as well as this pretty little washing basket. I’m really pleased with the new look and now it feels like a proper laundry room!

Keep the Floors Clean (even with pets..)

My ragdoll cat Merlin moved in with us a few months ago and as much as I love having him around, he is a very fluffy cat! His white fur gets everywhere and my old vacuum cleaner wasn’t really up to the job, making cleaning the floors one of my least favourite chores. But with my new V8 Dyson cordless vacuum, it’s a breeze!

Because you don’t need to plug it into a socket, it’s easy to just quickly whizz around the house and go from room-to-room easily. It has a wall mounted docking and charging station which gives you a good 40 minutes of use once fully charged. It’s got powerful suction on both carpet and hard floors, and is low noise too (so it doesn’t upset the cat!).

I love how easy it is to change the tools on the end, so I can quickly turn it into a small handheld vacuum to clean the stairs, and it’s also really simple to empty it straight into the bin using the hygienic point-and-shoot button.

And best of all, it’s been specially engineered for homes with pets! Because my husband is allergic to cats (he takes antihistamines to help) I have to clean the floors regularly to remove all fur and dander particles as they can set off his asthma. The Dyson V8 has a fully sealed HEPA filteration system which means it captures and seals 99.99% of those microscopic particles and allergens.

I actually now quite enjoy vacuuming thanks to our new Dyson!
