I’ve pretty much set it all up over the last 5 weeks as I’m having trouble finding a full time job, and although I’m definitely not expecting this to be anything more than a little pocket money, it’s something I really enjoy doing. So I’ve got myself registered with the council as a food seller, they’ve inspected and approved my kitchen, I’ve completed my Food Safety and Hygiene course, and had an appointment with my business adviser! Phew.. starting your own ‘business’ is hard work! I’m working on a proper business plan at the moment to work out costing etc, but other than that, I’m all set to go 🙂 It’s something I’ve been thinking of starting since graduating and I now really feel like this is the right time for me. Who knows how successful I’ll be as I live in quite a small village, distant from large towns. But we’ll have to wait and see!
Anyway, I’m rambling a bit now, but I’m really excited! If you wish (especially if you’re local to Bedfordshire or Milton Keynes) please take a peek and maybe like my new Facebook page 🙂 Here are a few photos of recent Christmas cupcake batches I’ve made for family. My family must be sick of cupcakes by now as I’m forever experimenting with fondant icing!
Please let me know what you think! 🙂
These ones melted a little.. oops!

Wow these are so cute, I would definitely buy some if I was having a party! 🙂

How exciting! I'd love to know more about setting up your own business. Was it easy registering as self employed? Where did you find a business mentor? Good luck with it all 🙂 xx
Thanks Amy 🙂 Registering as self employed looks quite difficult, I'm not registered as of yet, but I must be within 3 months. But my local entrepreneur centre (Wenta) has lots of workshops and help on registering. I also found my advisor through Wenta but there should be ones local to you too. She was really helpful and is helping me with finance and drawing up a business plan. I also still need to sort liability insurance which is only £60 per year. Also the Princes Trust has lots of advice and info 🙂 xx P.S. your blog is my favourite!
Thanks for getting back to me Victoria, good to know there's lots of help available! And lovely to hear my blog is your favourite, what a compliment! x
good luck on your new business Victoria 🙂 I wish I could come and see you + buy some cupcakes from your shop but I only visit London in the UK.
I'm so excited for you! I'm graduating next summer and will have to get some experience and then set up my own photography business so its nice to see someone else thats setting up a business, good luck! xx
exciting! best of luck! xx
I'm loving your cakes so much I wish I had the patience to make cakes I bake with my sister that good!
If you deliver your cakes anywhere in the UK by February..I'll definitely order some for my 21st birthday party!
I'll keep checking the website 🙂
