I love wearing dresses, even in winter. However, it’s often hard to find winter dresses that either have sleeves or are made of a warm material, or that have an appropriate design. I often feel like my floral print dresses just don’t look right from September onwards, so I try to find knitted or thicker dresses to suit the season.
This dress from Dahlia is just perfect for autumn and winter. I was very kindly sent this Daphne dress to try, and although I was a little bit dubious about the pattern and fabric, it’s actually gorgeous! I’ve been admiring those tapestry handbags lately as they’re so granny chic, and I thought the same design on a dress would be OTT and just a little bit too much like an old curtain. However, the shape and style of this dress gives it such a feminine edge that it doesn’t look grannyish at all.
The Black Brocade Pleated Dress has an exquisite pattern of black, red and green hues; perfect for autumn. It features a pleated, A-line skirt and sleeveless bodice to create a classic, figure-flattering silhouette. It’s already been featured in Grazia, and it’s a popular piece among the press. Sorry about my photos, they seem to be getting worse and worse!
I think this dress would look great with a beaded pearl peter pan collar necklace, or with a sheer blouse underneath to give it sleeves. I’ve teamed it here with a tan coloured skinny belt to give it shape, and thick tights with Chelsea boots.
You can buy this dress for £68 from Dahlia.
