1. Rai, Woburn – Fine Indian Dining Near Milton Keynes
Located in the pretty village of Woburn, Rai serves refined Indian cuisine in a charming Grade II listed building. With a menu that blends traditional Indian recipes and modern presentation, this is one of those special-occasion restaurants worth dressing up for.
It’s a brilliant pick when you want a meal that feels a bit more elevated than a standard curry night, whether that’s for a birthday, anniversary, or date night. The setting helps too, as Woburn is lovely for a little wander before or after dinner, so it’s easy to make an evening of it. We take my parents to Moza for their birthday every year, and they do an excellent value banquet menu!

Set in the picturesque village of Woburn, this independent restaurant has built a loyal following thanks to its authentic Thai dishes, beautifully presented food, and warm, welcoming service.
The menu features all the Thai classics, from fragrant curries and Pad Thai to sizzling stir-fries and fresh seafood dishes, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options available too. Every dish is packed with flavour and made using traditional recipes, creating an authentic dining experience that keeps people coming back time and time again.

17. The Carrington Arms, Moulsoe – Countryside Dining
This traditional countryside English inn combines a cosy setting with a modern British menu, making it perfect for everything from relaxed lunches to special dinners. It’s also just a couple of miles from Junction 14 of the M1, so it’s surprisingly easy to get to.
The restaurant is particularly well known for its steak counter, serving locally raised Bedfordshire beef cooked over a charcoal grill. There’s also an à la carte menu featuring modern takes on classic British dishes, alongside lighter options, homemade burgers and traditional pub favourites. The seasonal menus make use of fresh ingredients and, where possible, produce from local suppliers and their own garden.
It’s a great option if you fancy somewhere with a more relaxed countryside feel, whether you’re planning a Sunday lunch, dinner with friends, or a special occasion. There’s a large garden and patio too, making it especially appealing in the warmer months, while the Garden Room offers a more casual, dog-friendly space for food and drinks.
